Arrows in body causing FPS lag?

While my game itself seems to be pretty stable for the rather absurd size of it (I haven't gotten a CTD in hours), I've been having what appeared to be random bouts of lag. I believe that it may be due to having arrows actually stuck to the PC's body, after being in combat with a bow-wielding Bandit and having the lag hit. After equipping all arrows and un-equipping them to get rid of the stuck arrows, the lag ceased. If this is a work-around, it's not a huge issue, but I would like to know if anyone has ever had the same thing occur to them, and if they've figured out what may have been causing it.

Pretty big load order, sorted by BOSS, using Wrye Bash, quite a few tweaks to a number of configurations for compatibility reasons. A few smaller-scale graphics mods, but not any huge strain on that.

The only thing I can think of is some mod compatibility, but I honestly don't know what may be causing it. Possibly one of the mods that adds scripted effects?
Edited in to address possible concerns: I'm under the assumption that it's not a mod-added item or weapon, since the most recent occurrence of the lag was due to Iron Arrows, which Refscope was stating was based off of the Oblivion.esm. It -may- be PC overload, but I find it hard to believe that a single extra arrow sticking out of the PC would cause such a magnitude of lag. Possible, but I feel like this would be a less likely reason.
