New playthrough asking for some suggestions

Post » Thu May 22, 2014 1:19 am

I started a new playthrough the other day. Character details are below. I am looking for any mod suggestions that you have used that aren't too tedious that may add to the immersion and make it more interesting.

Character: Nord

Armor: Light armor

My guy dual wields two axes and uses a bow as a backup or for hunting. He lives off the land. I have to eat and I only eat what I kill or find that is reasonable. Finding apples and such in a bandit hideout is one thing, finding meat sitting around is a no go.

I rarely go into town. The only merchants I deal with are travelling caravans and merchants (I have a mod that adds random traveling merchants). I have a camping mod and have set up a camp where I live basically. It has everything I need (cooking pots, alchemy, etc).

I can only carry what is reasonable, and the only gold I get is what I find in chests or coin purses usually, or from selling gems I come by.

I also have a mod that makes combat more difficult, at least with NPCs.

Any mods you all suggest to add to the difficulty or to make this interesting? The only caveat is I don't want it to be too intrusive. I don't want it to feel like a job to use this mod. I am aware of hypothermia mods and needs and diseases, but they seem kind of tedious. Anyone have experience?

Looking for any mods that make quest lines more interesting or make the game more interesting in general. Anything that would fit into a playstyle where I live off the land.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I do not know about this one. It has to do with Hunting Weapons but you may like it.

Great! Thanks!

I use the 360 controller on the PC... any issues with using SKyUI with it you know of? That mod appears to require SkyUI MCM.

Not at all. I use a 360 controller on PC as well and it works fine. Obviously you can't have as many hotkeys as a keyboard, but you have the same access to the MCM through the menu.

Thanks!

Last question for you. I see Frostfall is one of your favorite mods. How much harder does it make the game? Is it a chore to keep warm? If wearing custom armor from a mod does it recognize it?

I don't have a PC ( yet) but here's one I have on tracking for a Ranger/woodsy type character.... http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37999/? ( Skyrim Wildlife overhaul).

I have Frostfall and a couple others like it on tracking. I think you can use a lower setting to make Frostfall a good choice without it being a major pain... or at least that's the way I read it.

'Immersive armors' (on nexus) gives you more variety of found loot type armour which all seem to work well with the game, I like it.

Frostfall is customizable so you can make it as hard as you want. Also, you don't have to use Frostfall on every character you play if you have it installed because to activate the mod you need to physically look up to the stars for several seconds. The mod does recognize armor from a few select mods and I believe those are listed on the mod page. I'd recommend trying it on a casual setting at first and slowly aclimate to it since it will change the way you play skyrim.

If you do decide to try Frostfall then a good heavy cloak mod like "Winter is Coming" will be beneficial since those cloaks offer great protection against cold.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16553/? - Randomizes the amount of ingrediants you collect from plants and animals and makes the amounts more realistic

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26228/? - Gives you Hunger, Thirst, Sleep , and beefs up diseases where you can get them from eating bad things, drinking unpure water, or sleeping in bad places. Also makes diseases something you need to take care of soon.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/searchresults/? - Adds camping gear, a system for detecting environmental temperatures, weather conditions, and player saturation (how wet you are). The wetter you are the faster you lose heat. All camp fires and large fires produce heat and player can place there on tent and camp fire.

These three mods are the bulk of my survival pack.
