[WIPz] Map of Skyrim, 3E16

Hi gang,

I feel compelled to write a small series of ingame books for Skyrim, one of which looks at the forts and settlements of the high kingdom from the prospect of the new administration of Talos Stormcrown's Empire. Part of this entails a new map building on the most recent canon in Skyrim and ESO. I do not play or own ESO though so would like some assistance in interpreting the maps of Tamriel it has.

A few obvious things I need some help with:

  • The coast around Hsarik's Head. Re-adding Winterhold is easy enough. But how seriously should I interpret the ESO map of Tamriel that puts Solstheim's southwestern corner directly off the coast of Eastmarch (where the fast travel marker was in Skyrim)? I understand that Solstheim won't be accesible in Online, but is this map used anywhere..? I would much rather leave it where it is in the [Oblivion] Codex, closer to Blacklight, and move it north to make room for Bleakrock Isle.
  • In the Rift, which is more likely to be "Fort Dawnguard" - Fullhelm Fort or Fort Viraak? Also, roads. There was a southern road between Riften and Cyrodiil in Arena, but precious few places on the map in Skyrim and Oblivion where there could actually be a pass in the Jeralls. I guess this isn't helped by ESO's teleportation system in and out of Cyrodiil at that location. I am minded to say there isn't a road to Cyrodiil south of Forelhost since Pale Pass-Helgen are established as the only feasible route in TES4 and TES5. What do you think?
  • Roads elsewhere: extending the northern Haafingar road through a mountain pass to Jehenna. There is clearly another route into High Rock through the Reach because of the unity of the Reachmen and the way the Afflicted refugees in Skyrim are depicted going south and west rather than north. A bridleway through the mountains at Dwemer Crossing seems most appropriate. With a bit of optimistic thinking, the road south of Markarth could carry on past Dushnikh Lal and turn southwest towards Dragonstar for a second road to Hammerfell after the Falkreath-Elinhir-Colovia road (which eventually joins the Chorrol ring-road northwest of Sancre Tor).
