Why can I not play Hunted: The Demon’s Forge online co-op?

Due to the termination of GameSpy’s online services (effective May 31, 2014), Hunted: The Demon’s Forge will no longer support online cooperative play on PlayStation 3 and PC. You are still able to play cooperatively with another player via the game’s split-screen mode.”
