I just finish high school a few weeks ago, and me not really caring about the graduation ceremony(still attended though) left my diploma in my mom car and my step dad accidently threw it out and now it in the dumpster. So I want to know if I should seek a replacement from the school or I just not care and focus more on the degrees for college instead.

I'll be honest, while I'm glad I still have mine, I haven't even looked at it in over twenty years now. It's nothing that's going to prevent you from obtaining work in the future. If it bothers you enough, maybe try getting a replacement for the one that's lost, I wouldn't think it would be too hard to do.

I don't even know where my diploma is. You could probably contact the school and request another one but if your high school is anything like mine you don't want to talk to anyone there.

Yup. Anyone who actually cares will either tell you to give them an official transcript of your grades and courses, or contact the school on your behalf. The only good the actual diploma is, is for hanging on your wall if you're into that kind of thing.

Even though it may be worthless (i have no idea on that), if its not too much trouble you should try to get a replacement. You might need it next time, perhaps not for official reasons; who knows?

It's more something to hang on your wall, if your planning on getting college degrees they're probably a better thing to have on your wall.

I have a grad school diploma and some photos of me running ten meter waterfalls in a kayak on the wall in my office. My firm would not look kindly to posters of a rock star, unless perhaps they were autographed and framed. There is one guy I know with a small 8 by 10 inch autographed photo of Ozzy in his office in a nice frame.

I couldn't imagine putting my high school diploma up on my office wall. It is in a box somewhere in my attic gathering dust.

I agree, if you are planning on going to college, and it sounds like the OP is planning on doing that, there is no reason to keep a high school diploma, unless you went to some fancy pants prep school and want your co workers to know.

All the places I've worked don't even check on that. They just take your word for it

I graduated HS in 1981. No one has ever asked to see my Diploma.

However, I am sure the school will, for some money, make you a new one.
