vanilla textures after using Morrowind Overhaul

Post » Fri May 30, 2014 2:16 am

K was having some problems with stability with my game so i decided to wipe the slate clean and redownload the game and reinstall some mods.

Have alot of experience using mods but this has me stumped. Im running the morrowind overhaul collection and i start the game and i realize the npcs have their vanilla heads. Okkkk so i make a note. Guard comes up and hes walking vanilla style AND his armor is vanilla as well. More notes. Get outside and its beautiful! Ok so the land textures and water textures and the stilt strider textures are great. The land (what u walk on is vanilla) and the items and objects are vanilla.
pretty much everything is vanilla except the foilage and water and stilt strider and even the driver has the new head and also everyone has the newer bodies.
try to reload and i notice that the title screen is not 1980x1080, i think its the 1600 resolution. But the loading screens are 1980x1080.

So i try to redo the msgo settings maybe my mod of lgnpcs/living cities/epic balmore, and 2 other cities are overwritting something.
Nope, says my morrowind ini and moinstaller.exe is not in the file but im looking at them.
so i run the land generator and click everything and run it and its still the same.

Anyone had this problem before?

Have you handled all the BSA Archive issues for these mods that add textures? You have to manually edit the INI in this game or use an Archive Invalidation tool. I think Archive Validation Invalidated works on this game, not sure.

I don't think MGSO uses bsa files . . . and if it does, the ini edits would be handled by the installer. The installer is designed to be idiot proof and when I installed MGSO I did not need to edit the ini file to add a bsa. I am familiar with that process from installing Tamriel Rebuilt, where I did need to edit the ini to add a bsa file, but you don't have to do that with MGSO.

Do you have Morrowind installed in Program Files? Asking because that's pretty much the only thing I can think of that would potentially cause that.

Is your MW installed in Program Files? Because that's the last place you want it :P And that sounds like the problem here.
You can just drag/drop it elsewhere, like just your C: drive.

When installed in Program Files, Vista and Win7 will "protect" you from altering files, so many mods don't work.

Check the Mod Recommendation pinned thread for more details on that, and if you're a Steam user.

Yes ive installed them into program files. Itsbthe same place i have install all my mods for the past 4 or 5 years. Im trying to find an archive invalidation for morrowind to see if that works.

Also even though i have the 1980x1080 manually selected in land generator, my resolution is 1600xetc.

Could be when i downloaded wryn mash.

Mmmm ok gonna uninstall everything and the reinstall the game, then add the files of the overhaul in, download the mods im gonna use, and then activate the overhaul. Hopefully that should fix things

If you reinstall, please put it somewhere else besides Program Files, create a directory called C:\Games\Morrowind and put it in there. You will have way less problems this way.
