Fallout 3 and New Vegas connection

Post » Tue May 11, 2010 3:10 pm

Alright, just for kicks, how would you tie the two together??

Now lets assume that the lone wanderer survives the main quest, whether you let Lyons go into the radiated chamber or you went with the Broken Steel way (coma). You survive. Sure, NV is about the story of an entirely new character, however, it does not have to be a different character.

-Why would your LW travel to NV from the capital wasteland??
-How did he/she become a courier??

Food for thought I suppose.

my character is the same from fallout 3, and is pretty much the unofficial leader of the BoS and was looking at completely rebuilding D.C, which made him seem like an anarchist, to elder Lyons succesor.
now, his succsixr was from a different branch of the brotherhood, this coupled with a "relationship" with Sarah Lyons (purely physical), was making him pretty hated by this new leader who was waiting for an oppurtunity to get rid of him. anyway, three years after the events of broken steel, he was out helping build a medical clinic and encountered a legion scout, badly wounded and nearly dead. he took him to a private doctor at rivet city in secret and when he was healed my character decided to "escort him" back to the mojave, the real reason was to scout out new territories to move to and help purify using project purity, as he was driving (with a rebuilt car) they were attacked by the BoS mojave chapter. my character fled and had to sell pretty much everything he had on his back to make it to the vegas. he decided to become a courier to make enough money to get back to D.C. he found a place of residence with ulysses where ulysses planned to take down the legion and free the slaves, this they bonded over. then they had a disagreement over legion ethics, my character left and ulysses assumed he was dead. so my character was left with no money, no weapons and the clothes he was wearing. after this he started camping out and living off the land when he heard about another great courier job from an old contact and he was promised that it would be enough to get him home, so he took it, was ambushed by benny then woke up in goodsprings. after this he had every intention of leaving back to D.C., until he met cass, this fact was firther solitified when he found a picture of his father in vault 21 and decided to send off one last radio transmission to D.C and stay in the mojave and work on building a greater society that's inlfuence would spread across the country and hopefully create a great new city-nation, heres my ideas:

i was thinking that i should, give two securitron mark II's to every settlement in the mojave, wipe out powder gangers, fiends and the infernal cazadores. i'll also set up a proper prison system, outlaw mind altering chems (basically everything but stimpacks and jet). release all slaves (prisoners who weren't powder gangers or legion slaves.
now onto the legion, i will send about 100 securitrons to finish them off completely.
with the NCR i will let them go on a they were but with alot more privelages, for example i will give the one casino on the strip do with it what they will.
i will also make a trip to the hub and root out NCR corruption, and set up proper safe trade routes.
the brotherhood i will give them a choice, join my service unconditionally or leave the mojave (with an escort for their safety).
the followers will get alot more funding and i will get my securitrons to upgrade the fort.
gun runners will get contracted to upgrade my securitrons.
the boomers will be aloowed to live in peace with me (hopefully with trading) to do whaever they wany, save for a few scouting missions.
and i will free all prosttutes (set up a rehab clinic), however it will still be legal provided it's consenting.
the kings will be allowed to live as they are.
i will set up a squad of deathclaw hunters (humans, ghouls, supermutants you name it, theyre welcome)
primm will get human reinforcements for meyers.
i will also rebuild the mojave, starting with freeside, then the rest of it, i would prefer to turn it in to one giant city complex, with a massive wall and regualar patrols and i will welcome anyone friendly into it, i'm thinking of a name as we speak
also i will eliminate currency, and hoard caps for my city, purely for trade with other citys.
i will also have a guard post every 200 square metres comprised of 1 securitron and one living person (for those who feel uncomfortable with talking to robots).
i will be the only government official, everything else will be done by robots.
i will also give powder gangers and fiends the option to surrender and be jailed.
as for the eliminating currency everyone will be given plenty of food and water and everything else they need.
in my super city complex i will have a fully trained human army who will be ready at any time to attack using vertibirds which i will manufacture, also i will have a special parachuting regiment who uses the boomers bomber from high up.
and eventually when the mojave is peaceful and secure i will then spread a radio message across the U.S and welcome anyone who wants to come and live in safety provided they abide by our laws.

got a bit off topic, but cool, huh?

My Lone Wanderer wanted to go to a place with better lore so she went west. :teehee:
Seriously though, traveling across an entire continent with no motive?
Doesn't make sense.
"She/he wanted to see Vegas".
But how would he/she know of Vegas? And how would she/he know if it was still standing or not?
I see no real reason for it.
Only reason I can think of is that she wanted to find a safer place to start a fresh life in so therefor she wandered west until she came to Vegas.
Question is, why would she want to become a Courier?
She already have 900.000 Microfusion Cells in her backpack she could sell and live like a queen with.
And she's not interested in work anymore, she wants to settle down.
So even then it doesn't make much sense.

If my character wanted to find more battle then why didn't he just stay in Arizona and kill legionnaires?
Connecting LW to Courier has it's plotholes that I cannot ignore really.

Sometimes I like to think The Courier is a descendant of The Lone Wanderer (or The Chosen one, which would in turn create somewhat of a family of epic post nuclear adventurers) and for some reason he wanted to explore and get away from Vault 101 (Amata was his mother, he never knew his father).

But then again, there is a lot of time inconsistencies with that. So Chosen One descendant is better.

Traveling from D.C. to Vegas in a post apocalyptic America? Unlikely that my Lone Wanderer would be able to make it there alive but whatever I'll go along with it.

After finally defeating the Enclave once and for all my Lone Wanderer decided to find out more about where the Brotherhood came from, after they tell me about California I tell them that I will be heading out to California to see the place they came from, not wanting me to go alone because of the tremendous goodness I did for them they send ten Paladins with me. All of us are in Power Armor with Laser Rifles and a lot of Microfusion Cells. We start to venture across the USA, it takes a long time we eventually lose count of the days and finally end up in Nevada. After seeing the city of New Vegas my character decides to stay there, he try's to visit the Strip but finds out that you need 2,000 caps or a passport to get in so he becomes a Courier to make some money.

Along the way, magically losing his skills and abilities, and despite defeating thousands of mutants, Enclave troops and raiders he easily falls to a gang of 4 punk ass [censored]es. :P

Hell's no. My Lone Wanderer would have the Legion backing him up. And everybody knows not to [censored] with the Legion.

After the events of Mothership Zeta my Lone Wanderer went crazy and started traveling west until he was shot in the head by Benny giving him amnesia but also for some odd reason restoring his sanity.

I would have Outcast returning with Arthur Maxson. They just so happened to end up in the Mojave on their way back to Lost Hills. As for my Lone Wanderer. Started to head west but ran into the Midwestern BoS and was gunned down.

I can t make this connection. My lone wanderer is too busy in DC to walk to the other side of the country in 4 years. I d find something it Ohio and stop there. No reason, no connection between the two.

Only Lyons bos, the bos Outcasts, Talon Company, or Enclave that fought in DC could connect the two. None of that is present in fo nv, so I can t mentally make a connection that could satisfy me.

I would think that the BoS, after combing through the Enclave data, would discover mention of Enclave in Chicago then dispatch the lone wander and some paladins to find it. After they arrive they are ambushed and interrogated to find out more info from Enclave distress calls or Vertibirds that traveled from DC to there. Realizing the potential the lone wander has for solving problems (or making them) they wipe his mind with pre-war tech and ditch him around New-Reno while constantly spying on him.

This is because in Fallout 2 we see the Salvatores with enclave ties, which I would assume is taken over by the Van-Graffs, and also the courier makes a comment about seeing Bruce Isaac's (Novac) act while in New Reno.
