Arrived at Riverwood and was attacked by its denizens: guards, Gerdur, Alvor - all of them. I thought that I might have a bounty in Whiterun Hold so I fled from the village and fast travelled to Whiterun. The guards at Whiterun did not engage me. I then returned to Riverwood to get the same greeting from its denizens.

What is wrong? Is my save bugged? If it is bugged, are there any fixes or will I have to start a new game? I slew some Thalmor yesterday before saving and exiting the game. They initiated the fight, not I.

Did you happen to kill a chicken there? Maybe by accident. They love their chickens in Riverwood.

Does Your character have any Bounty?

A Gaurd in Whiterun will not automatically arrest Your character unless You have a large Bounty, a small Bounty may not even cause the Gard to comment about knowing Your character.

Spending a week sleeping in a Player Home away from Riverwood can allow the residents to reset.
