LockupFreeze during new game...help?

Post » Sun Jun 01, 2014 1:29 am

when starting a new game I get to the end of the cart ride and then it freezes.

I've used LOOT and it tells me there are 22 warning messages and 0 errors.......

is there a console command to bypass the cart ride and go straight to character creation??

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks

What are the warning messages?

Does the cart ride progress normally if you disable all of your mods? If it does, then you have a mod conflict that you'll have to resolve - console commands are not going to be of any help.

ETA - posting a list of the mods you're using would be helpful as well.

Disable all your mods and try again.

the problem with that is that there is a mod called Civil War Overhaul, and it specifically that you HAVE to start a new game...and I think there's one more too....

so should I disable ALL mods, or can I start with hair, body, face and civil war installed at the beginning??

thanks

I haven't used LOOT yet (I haven't played Skyrim for a couple of months), but it should generate some kind of log file that you can view.

The only reason Mark's asking you to disable all of your mods is to try and narrow down the cause of your problem to either a mod conflict or something wrong with your vanilla installation. It's a troubleshooting procedure.

ETA - one quick question - are you using a mod called Helgen Reborn? If you are, you must disable that file until after you've left Helgen.

no i'm not using that mod....but i have so many mods its hard to naow it down.

is it safe to install the mods AFTER I make my character and leeave Helgen? I always thought you had to start a new game when you install mods....

i think what i will try is to disable all of them except the Civil War mod and the face, body , hair mods....i'll let you know if that wworks

thanks

It should be safe to do that since you'd be so early in the game, but if some of your mods are conflicting you're just going to have other problems as you play. I'd suggest gradually adding them back into the mix, play testing for a while, and then adding more until you start having problems.

Also, with that many mods, you need to be using a merged or bashed patch if you aren't already.

You can add mods during your game. It depends on the mod. There are overhaul mods that require a new game for instance.

You would have to read the mod author pages.

However, It is not recommended that you remove mods during your game. This is a general rule that you should follow. Mods like texture/mesh mods and some item mods can be safely removed.

As Gator posted, It really is a good idea to add them a few at a time and test. I start with things like enb series, texture mods, weather overhauls (make sure my FPS is acceptable). I then move on to major overhaul mods like Skyre.

Test the game after each installation. With the major overhaul mods it is important to ensure they are compatible with eachother. You need to thoroughly read the mod author pages. Proper installation, mod compat patches, bashed patchs, load order, etc are

essential to get a stable game. It's best to stick with only a few overhaul mods. Then I add the extra mods that add items, extra flocks, music, etc. Again it's important to fire up Skyrim and test the mods after you add them.
