So Skallagrim(a pretty entertaining/interesting youtuber who makes videos on weapons and guns) took a look at some of Skyrim's weapons to see how "practical" they are. What do you guys think?

Great video! I subscribed and agree with what the guy was saying. I think the daedric stuff is hideous.
Interesting video, but I have to disagree with the elven axe. I'm sure those "needles" as he calls them is just a graphical limitation thing, they're definitely not supposed to look like that.
edit: and those spikes on daedric weapon always annoyed me, specially on the swords.
Then why don't all of the other 2-handed weapon handles look like that?
Yeah I don't agree with you.
It's very beautiful. That and glass stuff.
This is nothing new, even among games in general. Very few of them have weapon designs that would be viable in any way in reality. I actually thought this guy went kind of easy on some of these weapons, his comparison between a real two-handed sword and the steel greatsword clearly showed the Skyrim greatsword was still quite a bit larger than the real thing.
Really though, if Bethesda had realism on their mind when making these games, polearms would be the king of melee weapons and swords would be very poor against anyone in "heavy armor".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the elven weapons are the only ones with these scaled handles. each needle seem to be the tip of a scale
I usually don't like it when people compare fantasy weapons with real life ones, but i actually agree with most of what he was talking about. I have always thought the Daedric weapons were hideous, the changes he made actually improved them visually as well as functionally.
I was surprised he didn't review the scimitar, how that thing even fits into its scabbard is beyond me.
Looks Impreacticle and more ceremonial than functional. The Iron sword looks like it could do more damage.
Weapons have always been exaggerated in fantasy games. On top of that, the physics of the world can be different than ours. Like you would never make a sword out of glass, but in the world of TES? Absolutely.
Besides, it's fun to beat people with paddles.
He's got a fair point. The blades on some of those swords look too thick and wide to be practical. I'm no expert on swords, but I imagine you want the blade to be thin enough so you can actually swing the thing. Too much weight on the blade and you'll be having a bit of a problem.
