The trailer looks like Mars to me, dusty brown/red color and all.
I'd actually rather have a Doom game on Earth. This planet, especially civilization/urbanization can look far different in the future from now. You have to use imagination very well
Also, Mars is very boring looking. Nothing to bore a person more than an endless rocky dusty desert. One of the things I don't like about the Riddike series is the use of a very boring looking planet.
You can clearly see tall buildings in the background. It resembles a ruined earth (no indication of Mars whatsoever). Also, it's confirmed to be on earth, the voice over even says so (not literally).
I have a lot of imagination otherwise I wouldn't have come up with this
Also, you mentioned Mars exterior. I'm talking both interior and exterior. They managed to make a compelling game out of that. Besides, it's just a small portion. I also mentioned space, the space ship, space station and hell. How's that for variation? No, let's do it on a futuristic earth (as if we haven't seen that before) which is ruined. But hey, taste differs.
I was describing the atmosphere the video has. It looks more like Mars, a dusty desert buildings/structures really being irrelevant.
Yes I can see how you'd think what you described is variation, but none of those settings are something I can't see here on Earth. The dead space ship/colonies look like pretty standard scifi architecture that wouldn't look out of place on Earth. The Doom style bases on Mars also don't look like anything that wouldn't fit here on Earth. As for Hell, that's in every Doom game.
Floating in space does sound neat though, I wonder if it's crossed their minds.
Fair enough. Have you played Dead Space? The Zero Gravity stuff was amazing.

I don't care where it takes place, I hardly even care about the story.
This game is going to be all about the gameplay for me.
I'm just looking forward to seeing more of the game and what direction they're going with it.
