I am an undergraduate history student looking to write a comparative anolysis between The Elder Scrolls (particularly Skyrim) and what appears to be influencing source material from the cultures of early Germanic and Scandinavian tribes as described in the Beowulf epic. I am hoping to make contact with a Bethesda representative who could answer the following questions, but welcome anyone who may be able to contribute:
1. Which aspects of the above mentioned culture(s) (including, for example, Norse mythology) influenced the development of The Elder Scrolls and Skyrim, and how? What role did they play in the overall design of Skyrim?
2. Where did you feel the need to follow or variate from the traditional source material and why (in terms of art and story, lore, etc.).
Any information regarding the above questions or related input is appreciated!
Thank you
Gustave
