Hi everyone,
I've suddenly thought about something I'd like to discuss with other TES fans. I am pretty sure there have not been (from Oblivion and Skyrim experience at least) any similar situation during any of the Dark Brotherhoods quests, which would be suitable for the situation I am about to portray nor were there any books or lore to mention that.
Imagine if two people would perform the dark ritual for the Night Mother and ask the DB to kill each other at the same time? How would Dark Brotherhood handle this situation? What I mean is the target is also the one who performs the ritual and vise versa. Both rival parties want to assassinate each other and thus they, secretly, perform the ritual at the same time or close to in order to take each other out.
Now there are many aspects to note here. First, Dark Brotherhood ALWAYS finishes its tasks once the contract is accepted by the Listener. While I do not agree with Skyrim's Emperor assassination part (if DB was able to kill the Emperor, why would not Thalmor or any other side which does hate the Emperor order his death long before?) and do not accept it as an official event in the TES Lore, it is still noteworthy that the Dark Brotherhood can and is willing to take almost any type of contract and vows to finish it. Therefore if two people would order each other at the same time, will the DB assassinate both? Who will be first in the list? How will they handle it?
Secondly, the money aspect. As far as I know, money is usually first when it comes to assigning contracts to the DB. But sometimes it is not excluded that the second part of the contract money is paid after the killing is made. How, in the situation of double contract, will the payment be made?
There are probably many other aspects to think about in such a situation. But, let's start the discussion and see where it will lead
P.S. I apologize beforehand if that topic was already started by somebody else somewhere on this boards, so if anything please do not hesitate to link me there, perhaps we can resurrect the old topic
