Can one download the old school Fallout games?

Post » Sun Jun 15, 2014 12:22 am

I've been feeling an urge to play Fallout 1 and 2, but I can't find them anywhere to (legitimately) download. This leads me to believe that Bethesda has 'recalled' the games upon acquiring the rights to to them, due to things in FO2 that violate some of their rules. But, on the chance that I'm wrong, does anyone know where I can get my hands on them?

They're not up for grabs (digitally) legally anywhere right now. Changing the company logo and copyright information shouldn't take this long (I'm not an expert, but I wouldn't think so) so they're either doing something for the games themselves (censoring perhaps), waiting to launch them back up with the announcement of the next one ("Bang! Fallout's back, dooooods!"), or perhaps they just don't feel it's a priority of any sort to get them back up as they're not a huge source of income anyway, old games like that.

That's a shame, I hope they do eventually get them back up for grabs.

If you want physical copies, you can check Amazon as well.

I bought Fallout one and 2 for $20.

I remember seeing 1,2,tactics either at Wal-mart or Best-buy, as well.

That would be my second choice. I'll probably break down and order from amazon though.

EDIT: How will the game run on a newer laptop?

fallout 1 and 2 were made in...97 98? I think most of them should run pretty well, the jewel copies I have run on Vista.

I have a pretty terrible laptop. New Vegas runs around 15 frames at low settings, but Fallout 1 and 2 run perfectly. If you have a modern day notebook even, you can run those games.
