I would highly advise against it, but smoking.

I used to drink rum, but I'm trying to be healthier. So lately I've been lifting weights and exercising a lot.

I go walking for long periods. If I'm feeling anxious, stressed or depressed, I find just going for a 2-3 hour walk does wonders

Isolation, heavily listening to music, meditation.... That's what I mostly do.

Well, there may be one other thing, but I'm not the type to mention it here.... just leave it to your own imagination.

Brownies.

But, use coping mechanisms that worked on you. Or exercise. That improves mood.

i've only ever got around feelings by repressing them until they just go away. works for me, although i may or may not have come pretty close to having a mental break down once or twice.

I used to make videos for my YouTube Channel but that's not working anymore but I do enjoy going to the Gun Range with my Dad to kick back the blues.

The trick is don't get depressed in the first place.

I am pretty...open minded, I guess, so it really takes some work to stress me out or anything like that (unless it is my brother). If it does happen I usually just tell myself to not be stressed and that works out :P otherwise I just play a game or something.

Actually I'll second this. I used to find the creative process and effort put into working on Youtube videos to be quite relaxing and enjoyable. (Although I stopped simply because I got bored with it).

Coping mechanisms arent always something that you do for the moment, a coping mechanism is something you need 24/7, many of the activities suggested are great and i wouldnt suggest otherwise, but they last as long as they last, you need the happy chemicals to stimulate your brain, and doing activities to do that is what you need to do, or keep yourself occupied and keep your mind off your depression, keeping active is always one of the best things to do, once you slow down, you slow down more then more, till its become your way of life and identifying that and stopping it before it happens is the best thing to do.

Now i cant say im the best to give you a coping mechanism, mine is basically alot of different things held together by i dont know what, but do things that make you happy, find something you can do either everyday or as much as possible, or set tasks.

When I'm feeling down, I use it to my advantage and play some tunes on the piano. Eventually the emotion runs dry and I move onto playing other music.

Like some have said though... you shouldn't be looking at a coping mechanism as a solution to depression.
