Post » Thu Jun 19, 2014 7:43 am

Hello!

(All Credit to 5c3j9r7Productions for the initial thread

This is the second iteration of the thread for discussing the FIFA World Cup. Feel free to talk about individual games, even as they're being played, where you're watching from, who your local team is, or anything else related to Football (or "soccer" as some of you may call it).

If you would like to make a prediction about the FIFA World Cup, I recommend you use the link below. It tells you who the winners and runners up of each group will face in the knockout stages - so hopefully it will avoid any confusion.

Enjoy the tournament!

They've got no other choice. They're screw if they lose again. Their fate might end up looking like Italy in WC 2010.

Gonna watch the Socceroos get destroyed by the Netherlands, even though it's on at 2am my time. Miracles can happen I suppose. :P

I like the Netherlands. I think is long overdue that they should win a WC. But at the same time, I always like to root for the underdog - luckily, my USA team is an underdog. ^^

In this match, either win will make me happy. A tie is ok too but I don't think it will be convenient for Australia.

I've just bet on 4-0 to Holland for this one.

I got 2 results right yesterday and got 10/1 on this result today. Good odds I feel for a realistic result I feel! LOL

Wouldn't put a 6-0 lost past them unfortunately.

But we did give Chile an unlikely scare, if it weren't for that off side goal and [censored] refereeing it could've 2-2. Pitbull looked concerned...

Who knows.

It'll be a boring probing game with a 2-0 or 2-1 finish, I think.

Lol.

Anyways, without a doubt Australia will play like if it's the final because, again, no team wants to be in that dark and lonely place of the 0-2 record. So I wouldn't be surprise if the Netherlands have a difficult time with AUS. The "Socceroos" should know by now that the "Orange" are playing "inspired". You can feel the energy and the thirst to win of the Netherlands.

Regardless, if they want to the Netherlands will still destroy them.

Don't always be so sure. Look at history. In 1982 WC, El Salvador, in their first game, were massacred by Hungary 10-1(that's still a record). Then they played the defending champions Argentina and Maradona said that if Hungary scored 10 goals, imagine what we could do to El Salvador. The score ultimately ended 2-0; Argentina won. Then El Salvador played Belgium and they lost to them 1-0.

So, don't be deceived by a bad performance. The tables can easily turn.

Well of course there is always a chance, but I'm not convinced that Australia is capable of matching the Netherlands.

If I had to bet, I'll go with the Netherlands. They have a well rounded team.

's been very entertaining World Cup so far. Only like two boring games, the rest of them very entertaining, many of them even very random. Yes, group D is a group of death -- for England, Italy, and Uruguay, because Costa Rica is playing in it! :D

The one team that's impressed me by far the most is Germany. Seriously, what is their formation, 1-4-2-4-0, 1-4-6-0? The first "one" being Neuer! Seriously, the goalie played like a libero. He was a ball-playing defender more than a goalie, heck, he even positioned himself to the corner flag once, so that the lowest defender with the ball could pass to him more easily when being pressured.

Also no strikers to mention. There are up to EIGHT guys who can make a run, and whoever passes to whatever runner always seems to get the ball right to the runner's feet. Then the others support as magnificiently as they support each other on defense, and the finishing is deadly, and I think many other guys can yet score other than just Müller and a defender with good heading skills. What an innovative way to play; one could almost call it total football. Everyone defends and almost everyone can lead a strike. Players off the ball support flawlessly in each end, and always seem to position right with very little effort. It's almost as if the tactics alone take care of that. How can anyone beat this team if they continue to play like that?

My favorite team Netherlands really surprised Spain. Australia shouldn't be a problem; they only got like one shot on goal against Chile.
