new to this 3yr old game but not to TES

Post » Thu Jun 19, 2014 5:34 am

So I finally got Skyrim with Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn a few days ago. I did play oblivion and morrow a few years ago but have stopped the TES when work overtook my life. Now, it's time to get back into the game.

I have been playing the game since the weekend and have stumbled upon this mod group just now.

Basically, I need help with mods to improve gameplay (not to cheat, no sense playing the game if one has to cheat). Mods like FoF id... so I don't shoot stuff that I'm not suppose to, mods like the one I saw on you tube that allows one to craft gear for carrying more stuff...

I guess you get the picture...
Need info on where to go to get the mods, how to install the mods and how to fix the game itself in the event I mess it up because of putting all these mods in the game!
A list of what mods the TES crowd normally puts in there game would be a good start point for me to have an idea on what I should put in my game.

So please, any suggestions would be good.
I can make this post a direct question post and a POLL post too just to see what everyone else is adding to there game
Thanks

You already have a topic opened with this question.

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1502535-not-looking-to-cheat-only-to-have-better-game-playmod/

I will see about contacting a mod to merge the thread into one

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/?

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/searchresults/?src_cat=78 or http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/searchresults/?src_cat=24 Also: see other categories: combat, overhauls, magic etc.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=174458347? There are also spells that do that in game.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13687/?? Search 'backpack' on the nexus for more options.

Also try the category/most endorsed method I mentioned in the other thread. Also the top files of all time.

You should probably watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxQ1JN_X-_Y. People seem to recommend them a lot!

So, you need something like an IFF or Datalink system, usually found onboard fighter jets (joking)

Anyway, identifying friend or foe, is rather easy: don't shoot what doesn't shoot at you. But there's also Detect Life/Dead, from alteration school:

  1. Blue means non-hostile -or simply dormant, when it comes to sleeping undead, but I think you understand that undead ARE hostile anyway.

  2. Red means hostile/actively searching for you.

As for the bags, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27563 features backpacks, kindly donated by http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13687/? and other mods. You may also want to check with http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16438/?. Increasing carryweight like that may -or may not- be considered a cheat (or cheap), depending on who you're asking. As for me, it's my game, my rules and I don't let anyone tell me otherwise.

As I play a woodelf, a nord and possibly an imperial or red, spells to IFF targets would not be a priority. Something I can add (mod) to tell me if the "thing" in my xhairs is friendly or not. Being a sneaky little elf, walking up to a "target" and trying to figure out if it's friendly or hostile don't quite cut it for me... 8(

Don't worry whenever you have an issue you can jump on here and ask for help! Modding sounds like a big process but once you get the basics you'll have no problem ^^
