What ever would be required. But I doubt anything of the sort is being done, anyway.

It seems that Fo1-Fo2 & FoT got an update of the same kind.
I managed to see user comments, but no changelog. I am not sure you can get changelog if you don't own the game on steam.

It depends if you consider broken or incomplete quests made fully working as a bugfix or an additionnal content.
Sure there are some parts that could be optionnal (some indeed are) but many things are things that have no point in being removed again. (It wouldn't enhance anything not to have them)

The odds to ask the one who spent a year making the engine ? Good question.
Ok i see. So better have optional bugfix then optional cut content. But what about official DLC ?
You want Bethesda to make DLC for FO1-FOT? Are you nuts!?
Not Bethesda, but Killap, Sduibek, Hexer & Co. The things they were already doing anyway.
Just give them public knowledge.
Good News!!!

My question would be what if any changes were made? A part from buying the games (yet again) and playing them I won't be able to know.
If anyone does download them please post what you find. Or message me because somethings aren't allowed to be talked about here on the forums, one of the things people suspect might have been changed with Bethesda now in full control of the orginals.
It seems like all they did was add the hi res patches to the game, as you can play either way. And, they added the Cloud Sync to the Saves function. See the pinned thread for details.
I am neck deep in ESO right now, so I won't have time to play the Steam release of the games.
I am curious if the high-res comes for a previous mod, was used with modders consent, their name added on credit or if they got a few caps.
About the changes, i am sure that if they are significant, someone would make a video or comment it on one of the numerous Fallout forums & website.
If the high-res is the only significant change and they still choose to make it optional, then it is great for the player to at least have an original vanilla option.
Another question that will probably be answered pretty soon.
Will it be the uncut vanilla version, or the censored vanilla version that they had to use in some countries ?
Technically, both could be rightfully called vanilla.
Pretty much what I was asking. The ReadMe thing doesn't answer that question.
I used to have a copy of the White Label Collection, and I do believe that both Fallout 1+2 were censored. I replaced it with Interplay's own Fallout Trilogy compilation at one point.
I'm told they should be uncensored. For more on the re-release, check the pinned post http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1502573-fallout-fallout-2-and-tactics-return-to-steam/.
Thanks for re-releasing it and adding the option for the hi-res patch. I might look at getting the steam version at some point just for that.
