Floating water panel in CK and game

Post » Fri Jun 20, 2014 1:22 am

I have been working on a mod when I noticed on my last save that there is a water panel floating above the landscape. I have no idea where it came from and I cannot click on/select it to delete it. It is only present when I load the esp for this mod. It is present in both CK and the game. I don't think anyone wants to swim in thin air when they go past Fort Greymoor (though my granddaughter thinks it's funny). I hope I do not have to remake the mod. I've put in many hours and added three areas to it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It's not a glitcn, it's always been there and you won't be able to delete it as it's the default water for the cell. Take a look there: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Creating_an_Exterior_Worldspace

You should take some training before launching yourself into modding. TES Alliance course is very good: http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/forum/114-creation-kit-basics/

Thanks for the link and the quick response. Learning where to find answers is the hardest part. Search engines are almost useless because they mostly link to more tangential topics than the one you are seeking.

Thanks for the quick response lady. I am in training, but thanks also for the extra links to study. This mod is part of that training as hands-on training is better than just studying. I was hoping to do well enough on it so that others might also get some enjoyment from it, but I can chalk it up as a learning experience and start anew if necessary. My granddaughter has really enjoyed helping me, and she is quick at noticing gaps in seams, etc.

I used the tag "water glitch" more to draw attention to a problem than claiming it as a glitch. I don't believe it is; it's probably because of something I did. I have been testing this mod rigorously in-game, and everything has been working fine until my last save and test run. This might also teach me to not save over the same esp without taking the time to make a back up and to test it first. Trial and error can be painful, but it can also be an impressive master.

I am aware of ground water below the ground. This water has apparently been translated above ground, and I am trying to find a remedy for that. It has not always been there (or visible anyhow) and does not show up in-game or in CK if the mod is not loaded too. It is also in a cell that I haven't edited (not on purpose anyhow).

Hmm, I had trouble posting the reply to ladyonthemoon apparently because her links were in the quote. I had to delete them. Funny, it didn't give me a problem with Marks' link being repeated in the quote.

You are not free to post links was listed as the error. This is why I do not participate in forums much or other sites of discourse on the internet. I grew up in a different world (not saying that it was perfect either, but why regress society instead of advancing it). I was not raised to be punished or denied access for the mistakes and misuse of others as is too often commonplace in today's world. Treat all people with respect and equality until they prove otherwise.

Thanks for permitting this little denunciation.

You must make ten posts to be able to post links.

I did not intend to draw this off topic, but will supply the only correction I've found in case someone else has this problem.

After reading the World Spaces link (provided my a lunar bound lady), I suspected that I found an answer in LOD Water Height. I changed (lowered) the water height to -14000 like the surrounding areas, saved and cleaned the file, and had to reload a clean save for water to disappear. If you don't know how to change it, I right clicked on the cell in the world space list and clicked edit.

This got rid of the water, or rather lowered it, but did not answer what happened. Upon loading only the skyrim.esm, I discovered that there is no water in that cell, and that LOD Water Height is set at 0. I still do not know why the water showed up. It is not in a cell that I have been editing. Either I did something or it is indeed the result of a glitch.

Again thanks to you two for the responses and the links.
