I always thought gamers were independent of thought.

That we would "play" a game just for the sake of mechanics and gameplay.

Boy was I mistaken! I guess that pop culture, pop news, has taken over.

No longer is our games a simple escape. Now, political correctness has shoved it's way in. I guess it was inevitable. The powers that be cannot allow such a popular medium without putting their spin on things. It will be interesting to see who caves and who maintains some semblance of independence.

I'd like to think my favorite game company has the nads to stand up. We'll see.

I hear exactly what you're saying. Political correctness and censorship now play a huge part in what can, and can't be released for us gamers to escape in.

Political correctness is everywhere not just in games, it's ubiquitous. The reason we don't walk around naked in the street is because it's not a social norm and is conforming to political correctness. It's as I said everywhere, everything we do is in some way shaped by polotical correctness and social norms.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the world n..... Or any other racial differentiator but we have attributed a derogatory sentiment to it.Go back 300 years ago and this colourful language would be widely used, again social norms.

Why was this posted in the Fallout NV board? The game actually deals in some pretty un-politically correct themes IMO...

300 years ago political correctness didn't actually exist, nor did escapism via computer games.
