Where is the warp drive? we are shockingly close to developing that.
UPDATED... (i forgotten the BAT thing), thanks to Erzherzoghans
First
Number 10: XStat syringe -> It could save soldiers’ and police officers’ lives
Second
Number 1: BAT -> It can provide electricity, and possibly communications, to underserved regions
Third
Number 8: SpaceShipTwo -> You’re going into space!
Most of those gadgets are not really that big. They are just newer things that we have like that mp3 player.
I would expect something like the Warp Drive, a stable Cold Fusion reactor, Cure for Cancer. Food Replicator.
I would only think the Space Ship 2, the syringe and that flying wind power turbine are really worth being mentioned.
I expected no better from the same news website that just recently declared "VR gaming is the way of the future!". CNN seems to be 20 years too late on reporting in new tech.
Some of those items seems like they are placed to help get ready for the Christmas shopping season like that MP3 player.
None of the above. It's the VacLev (VACuum tube magnetic LEVitation) train*. Free, lightning-fast transportation, anyone?
*In the near future. Overall, I'd say Fusion > Nanotechnology > VacLev.
However, if I HAD to choose from that list, I'd say SpaceShipTwo. I think space travel is going to be enormously important in the future; we only have so many resources, plus colonizing other planets will significantly increase the odds of our survival.
That said, standard rockets will be laughable in the face of new technologies. We could accelerate a ship through a VacLev tube, enabling it to reach escape velocity in a frictionless environment before releasing it. Or we could use fusion propulsion; similar to modern fuels, except firing fusion-produced helium plasma out the back instead. Much more energy relative to mass.
More likely, we'd launch much lighter-weight craft (via fusion fuel + VacLev acceleration or space elevator) to an orbiting station, where larger craft would be constructed and launched to other planets.
Agree on the XStat, it is basically a real life stimpak.
I'm sorry but WTF is the point of that video? I've never been so irritated in my life watching something. First off, half of those things had no explanations whatsoever, they flashed a word on the screen and showed a triangular ipod, and I'm supposed to know what that means/is? What?
Whoever edited that video, please get a new job.
The Bat seemed interesting, but it didnt really seem as though any others were exactly 'game changers'.
Suggesting someone commit suicide for producing a poor-quality video? Really? How old are you?
You must be new to the internet if that offends you and you've never heard that exaggeration.
But, meh, if it hurts your feelings. I'll edit it out.
I've seen it elsewhere on the internet, and it's as petty and sad here as it is there. If you honestly think that it's ever alright to make a comment like that, even in 'jest', then I strongly suggest you go outside and get some life experience, you clearly have some growing up to do.
I have a better idea than any of those: An engine that runs on endangered species. Because if we start to run out, we can always make more!
Is a link to an article with a halfassed comment on it really all it takes to make a thread around these parts?
