Mod or Method for manipulating spell menu?

Post » Sat Jun 21, 2014 9:03 pm

Here's something I don't believe I've ever come across.

Is there a mod that allows for manipulating the spell menu?

It would be great to be able to clean it up. Like if you could right click on a spell name and get a list like Delete, Rename, or move to another location on the list.

Nice if it worked for scrolls too. Just to take some of the ambiguity out of the name.

?

If you are on PC, hold shift and click the spell to delete it. Vanilla functionality.

Thank you keramac. I was aware of that after searching around.

But if you do that, then you need to make sure you already have that spell effect in another spell so you don't lose it.

And if you like that spell and intend to still use it, you would have to create/buy it again with a Spellmaker.

What I'd like to do is group all the spells by effect to make finding exactly what I want to use a little easier.

Instead of having a heal here and a restore health there and a Vitality somewhere else, it would be great to have all your heal type spells in one section of the menu. Like at the beginning.

Then create the next "section" of spells from the Fortify category all together under the Heals.

Then all the Damage spells grouped together under that.

Maybe even group them by Schools of magic.

But everything would have to be kept in alphebetical order. And it would be a little dificult to set up at first without being able to rename what you have.

Like you could buy spells and name them RES-1, RES-2, RES-3, ILL-1, ILL-2, DES-1, DES-2, CON-1, CON-2 etcetc to keep all the spells from the same schools grouped together in your list.

You can see how renaming the ones you already have would cut a LOT of work.

It can be done, but I thought if someone had already worked this out in a mod it would be nice.

These functions would only be possible through the Code Patch. I don't see how a standard mod could create what you want.

I find the Code Patch "spell selection by name" function to be very handy though.

Yup. The MCP is a work of art. I use that feature all the time.

Thanks Pluto

Indeed. The http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1558 mod renames most of the vanilla spells so they are grouped together by school.

WOW!! Thanks so much Logorouge!

A quick test shows it to be just about perfect for what I need. Lightweight too.

I can definitely work with this framework.

I can convert my custom spells to this system at my leisure. Even just having it as is makes things a lot more organized. I had already been using my own alphabetical convention when creating my own spells.

This is great. I owe you one. :icecream: :twirl:

ETA: This does break the MCP choose spell by first letter option. Which I was really getting used to.

But i think I'm going to like this even better.

You need to have the spell menu open to use either one anyway.

I'm looking forward to adapting to this.
