Lore friendly mods for Oblivion

Post » Mon Jun 23, 2014 11:17 am

Greetings, I want to go back to Oblivion after I have extensively played Skyrim, what I have noticed for the Skyrim mods is that many of them have taken in consideration the lore and don't break it.

Well when I played years ago Oblivion with mods I haven't taken in consideration this fact but now with Skyrim I don't install any more mods that inject in the game stuff that don't blend well with the game general feeling.

What mods for Oblivion can be considered lore friendly?

Let me know what do you know so I can begin a new game with lore friendly mods.

Thanks for the help.

Well, you know, there are over 10,000 Oblivion mods, and conservative guess 3,000 of them are lore-friendly. So, it will probably help to be more specific about what kind of mods you are looking for.

Quest mods? Creature mods? Followers? Etc.

Cheers.

Well we can start with overhaul mods, then I will add other mods that touch only single aspects of the game.

Anyway here are my priorities for now:

-Overhauls

-Weapons and Armors in the leveled lists

-More creatures, monsters and NPCs

As for overhauls, all except WarCry are lore friendly as far as I know. Sotobrastos found the lore aspect lacking in Oblivion compared to Morrowind, so OOO is in part trying to "fix" that. Fran's, Maskar's (I'd guess - haven't played it) and T.I.E. are also lore friendly. MMM has some creatures that aren't lore friendly, but for all of those there are optional esp's removing them.

wait, you mean War Cry New dimension, not war cry (I Think).

And for that one there is a .esp around that removes the non-lore friendly stuff.

By the way, what's the stuff inside MMM that is not lore friendly? I use COM, I wonder if I met creatures that are lore unfriendly...

No, I mean L@zarus original Oblivion WarCry, as all monsters basically are from Diablo. I have no idea about New Dimension (extremely silly to name a new mod the same as a famous one IMO), as I've never checked it out.

In MMM, enemies such as Beholdens (Forgotten Realms) or Balrog (Lord of the Rings).

Use the optional MMM plugins that removes the respective monsters for MMM. Don't use WarCry if you're a lore fanatic. But IMO they fit in rather well as it is and are so well made that I personally don't mind.
