Long Saving Times

Post » Tue Jun 24, 2014 4:30 am

I'm not sure what's causing this but for the past few days I suddenly have longer save times when saving my game. It used to just take a second but now it takes about 5-10 seconds every time I save. My loading times are still the same, I have not had any recent updates to my computer or its components, my game is not crashing, I have not installed any new mods in the past few weeks, and my save files are no larger than 9MB.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Does this happen in a new game?

This happened to me with Oblivion when I had a huge amount of saves. Not sure if this problem exists with Skyrim but it could be a possible reason. I always deleted older saves to remedy this.

Test this, load an earlier save, see if it has the same issue.

Does it have this issue when writing to a new slot or an existing one?

Does a new character have this issue?

The number of saves in the list should not have an impact on this, but just to test, archive all but 3 to 5 save slots and see if the problem is still there.

More than likely it's your mods that are contributing to this, it just took a few weeks to corrupt the save.

It happens when I make a new save for my current character (i don save over the old saves). I'll try on a different character and a new character to see if the saving times differ.
