My hopes are high

Hey guys, I'm currently at level 30 and in the boss chest (or whatever you call em) outside of Karthspire, I picked up a pair of Dragonplate gauntlets! This made me extremely excited, because now I feel like I have a chance of getting a whole set without having to level the crap out of my smithing. I know the drop rate is really low (1/20th of other gear even past level 40, when it should start to appear in loot or at least has a chance). I was just curious to see if anyone else ever lucked out and picked up a whole set without smithing any pieces. Is there a list of chests that have a higher chance of dropping dragonplate pieces?

If I'm being overly optimistic I need you to let me know, but please... do it gently. :o

That's a rare find. Like, Very, Very rare.

Still, This is skyrim so who knows what's out there. Keep searching and don't give up!

Such rare optimism from me...

I've put in about 800 hours on my Skyrim game, and so far I've only come across a set of dragonplate armor on one occasion (at the end of Labrynthian). I've also only encountered a set of dragonscale armor once as well (can't remember where). It's all just a matter of luck though, so there's not much you can do. In certain leveled chests (generally the type you find at the very end of a major dungeon, I think), there's a very small chance of them appearing. They are indeed very, very rare items.

Myself, I'm not a big armor person, so I was happy to just wait until my lucky day finally arrived. But if you're super passionate about getting a hold of them, you might just want to invest in the smithing tree, because otherwise you may be in for a very long wait.
