Russian language in Fallout 1-2 and Fallout 3 in Steam

Post » Tue Jun 24, 2014 4:14 pm

Please add support for Russian language in Steam, I think a lot of people in Russia and Russian-speaking people would have bought the game if it were in Steam.

Thank you for your attention.

Won't happen for the first two games as Bethesda didn't make them and won't do anything on another developers work.

Fallout 3, is there not a language option on Steam?

Regardless, it's unlikely if they'll add it now, they moved on from Fallout 3 a long time ago and they never go back to an old game.

Do you mean that the first Fallout were never translated in russian ? Or is it just steam ?

I though the russian community were one of the biggest Fallout community.

Well, it's possible that the original two games would return to Steam along with Tactics, but I doubt they'll be any changes beyond the replacing of the old Interplay logos with Bethesda Softworks logos. It's very unlikely that they'll take the time to do translations.

As for Fallout 3, again it's a big change and not something that they've ever really done with a game they've moved on from. Heck, we never got a fix for the A-bomb bug in Oblivion.

Fallout games were re-released already and kept the dear old logos.

About the translation of the dialogs, it doesn't need any technical skills. It only need to translate some .txt files that the games read.

(all in external files. The game only pick the .txt files that are in the data/[inset your language] folder mentionned in Fallout.cfg)

They only needs to pay the translators.

Last year, a guy that have zero modding skills managed to translate it in Brazilian.

Actually, when Interplays rights to sell them expired recently they were removed from both GoG and Steam. Physical copies still have the old logos because there circulation predates the rights expiration. Digital copies though are no longer avaliable, theory is that they could be rereleased with the Interplay stuff removed.

And it may well be that this requires the modding community too. It's still more work than I can see Bethesda investing into an old game that they didn't make.
