Dawnguard or Vampires?

Post » Wed Jun 25, 2014 7:47 am

I am just about to start the Dawnguard questline and I am playing a two handed, heavy armor player. If I was a theif, like my old character on my xbox, I would go Vampire no problem, but with this character I am not to sure. Would I have to have good magic skills, stealth, etc. to play as a good Vampire or no?

By the way this isn't for RP purposes, this is just a normal playthrough.

After you get to a certain point (I won't tell you when to avoid spoilers, but you'll know when that point is when you get there) save your game. That way you'll be able to try out both and decide which you like better. Plus you'll get the most out of the content.

I am on PC

Sounds like a good idea, I am mostly leaning towards Dawngaurd, though. I have already gotten so far into the game it is difficult for me even to sneak/weild one handed swords. They barely do any damage so I can't really do Dark Brotherhood or Thieve's Guild. Also, do you get Serena as a companion even if you join the Dawngaurd (To avoid spoilers, just have a yes or no answer please xD)

Dawnguard.

You can still become a Vampire Lord, you have access to the Crossbows/Bolts and the Huskies have better stats than the Death Hounds.

If however you plan on being a Vampire/Lord, then maybe side with Harkon due to some accessories that boost VL form ect, but honestly even then it's just not enough to make me side with them... They were the first faction I chose and came to regret it once I played through the Dawnguard side... Vampire side felt very unfinished.

Also, since you are on the PC, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28235/?, because I guarantee you that you will get sick of NPCs dying from attacks. There is also one for http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23906/? too

I only side with the Vampires. Playing vampire hunters are overrated.

Think I am going to go Dawngaurd, don't really enjoy being a vampire from other play throughs without the Dawnguard DLC and, as far as I can see, the only thing they have really changed is some stats and a new transformation, one in which I don't entirely feel would fit my character. Of course they have new spells and such, but I don't use spells ever. I think I will stick with the Dawnguard, the crossbows will be nice, the huskies will also fit perfectly with my character.

Also thanks for the mods! They will help a lot on this playthrough as well as others.
