Do you have any more examples of wearable gear other than smart watches?

Someone not too long ago made a thread with a link to CNN's top ten "world changing" technological inventions of the near future or something along those lines. One of the objects was a ring that you wear on your finger and you program it to activate and do certain things depending on the way you move or wave that hand or finger. For example, wave your hand once to turn on a light, wave it twice to turn on your TV or adjust a setting, etc. I don't remember exactly how the thing worked but it mentioned that it could text for you too. I questioned if our society has become so lazy that pressing buttons and flipping switches will become primitive. I highly doubt such a useless niche item will become a hit and a real "necessity" though.

I have a device that hooks over my ears, holding a kind of metal frame over my eyes. It has these lenses made of glass to refract light, correcting weakness in my own vision.

Looks exactly like iWatch. Probably functions the same as that or Android Wear.

Anyway, I think technologies like Google Glass are going to blow smartwatches out of the water. First of all, doesn't require a phone. Beyond that, it seems to me, if you're going to be wearing something and have it annoying you all day, doesn't it make more sense to have it in the more-convenient (for access) location of your face, where it can also take pictures and provide GPS and stuff without having to look away?

'Course, that's only among really rich people--the Samsung Smartwatch with Android Wear is only $200 (vs Glass at $1500). Even throw in an expensive smartphone for $650 or so and it's still cheaper altogether. So, overall the Smartwatch will be the thing. All the people who have enough disposable income will probably go with Glass or similar, though.
