Shall I trade in Skyrim for Thief?

Post » Sun Jun 29, 2014 10:10 am

Ive pretty much done every guild, quest and DLC, but I've yet to play the new Thief. Is it any good? Shall I trade in Skyrim and buy it? I need a good stealth game.

If you feel you're done with Skyrim, trade it in.

I've heard Thief was not a good reboot, and Skyrim has replayability. Ultimately I'd trade something that had less replayability in for Thief if you have that option (a linear game that you wouldn't replay).

Pretty much this, since you've done everything there is to do. One can only do so much on the console version, I would trade it in also... infact I need to do that with my old copy.

"Is it any good" yeah, of course, it's not exactly crap.

"Good stealth game"... depends what means good, I think it's way substandard compared to the trilogy.

Well the last time I watched a Let's Play of it. Was with Gopher. He quit early on because there was no penalty to stealth. Get caught run away and everyone treats forgets about you. It's simply bad stealth mechanics.

Sell it and put the money towards buying both Thief and Skyrim on Steam.

How so? I very much doubt the AI can be worse than Thief 2

I haven't played Thief but my friend is currently and he was not impressed by the beginning, but says it has gotten better as he played more.

He hates there is no fast travel, says the story can be confusing, like they forgot to add a cut scene or some form of story update and he was going "wait, why am I doing this now" kinda thing.

I wanted to like Thief: Deadly Shadows, but I couldn't get into it and stopped playing long before I was finished. It sounds by his other complaints, it's still got the annoying things I didn't like in T:DS.

But, that's me/him, you may very well like it, so why not eh?

Yes, do it. Skyrim is a mess anyway. Cut ties with it while you can still get something for it. The writing is so much better in Thief.

For Thief? Eh, I haven't played it myself but I've seen folk have mixed feelings for it.

I'd recommend Deus Ex, Splinter Cell, or Dishonored if you want a good stealth experience.

well Ethetan, considering your only posts about Skyrim are Complaints and you have never said one good thing about Skyrim, I suggest you make the trade.. as i have been saying for months, from your posts I don't think Skyrim is the right kinda game for you..

so in your case, trade it.. even for a bag of chips..

Wait, what? Weren't you the guy who kept writing "#masterpiece" for every topic about Skyrim?

Anyway, there are mixed views for the new Thief. From what I've seen its stealth mechanics aren't top notch either.

I think I've seen new copies of Thief priced lower than Legendary editions of Skyrim.
