Aela's Armor

Post » Mon Jun 30, 2014 3:47 pm

Ever wonder why Aela the Huntress is the only NPC that wears Ancient Nord Armor? How did she get it? The Skyforge can't make Draugr class equipment until you complete the Companion's questline. Perhaps she took a run through Forelhost or some other place you can get those armor pieces? And why would she wear it anyway? Respect? Lineage reasons? sixiness?

Maybe it has been an armour worn by females in her family for hundreds of years....

I've always wondered myself, as one would expect her to use leather or studded or scaled or even hide. Ancient Nord doesn't seem like something anyone would be able to obtain, Companion or otherwise.

Of course, we all know the real reason the devs gave her Ancient Nord armor:

'Zackly.

Because Aela stands out from the rest of the female NPC's.

She stole it from Gormliath Golden-Hilt.

If Aela didn't have the "hand of Sauromon" on her face she might actually have been wife material. I'm the only one that gets to leave hand marks across my wife's face....

I've always been more confused as to why an archer is wearing heavy armor. But whatever ... sideboob.

According to Aela: "My mother was a Companion. And her mother. And all the women in my family, back to Hrotti Blackblade."

The armor set must be a family heirloom, passed on from mother to daughter.

She actually doesn't have the hand facepaint. She has the three stripes. Good thing though, if you take it off she looks like a man in the face. I guess you could say she has a butter face. Everything on her looks good but-her face.

What shocks me most is to know she is wearing the Ancient Nord armor. I always thought she was wearing a completely unique set of armor. Mind = blown.
