Unreleased Games to Watch

Post » Wed Jul 02, 2014 1:25 am

The only other threads like this I could find have been closed, so here's a new one.

What unreleased games have you been keeping an eye on? Why should we be interested in them?

I rarely pre-order games, but I pre-ordered Abyss Odyssey yesterday. It can currently be had for $10, which will increase to $15 when it's released on July 15th. It's developed by ACE, who created the fantastically weird and unique Zeno Clash games. It's a semi-roguelike 2-D side scrolling beat-em-up with supposedly deeper fighting mechanics than your average beat-em-up. I really like the concept as well as the beautiful hand-drawn art style.

The Last Guardian
Kinda surprised it wasn't mentioned at E3, although they did recently confirm it has not been cancelled.

The Witcher 3 obviously. Why? Because it's set to redefine and revolutionize the RPG genre as we know it.

You really need to get a grip Jack! LOL. The game is still way off release so how can you possibly substantiate such ridiculous statements on a regular basis?

Lol, well I'm looking forward to it to say the least. We need a breath of fresh RPG air. Its gotten really stale.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what Telltale delivers with the Game of Thrones game. Can't wait for that one!

I've been keeping my eye on Oddworld new 'n' tasty for the last couple of years that is set for release on ps4 in july 2014. It's a complete remake of the 1997 ps1 classic game Oddworld abe's odyssey which is a two-dimensional side scrolling platform game with amazing (for it's time) graphics and beautiful 2d backrounds.

The game had a steep learning curve due to the sometimes difficult and complex puzzles you had to solve but were incredibly satisfying once you progressed and saved all the mudokens you could find. Also never to this day have i played a game with such a brilliant, dark, twisted sense of humor.

I really hope the remake stays true to the spirit of the original and from the gameplay i've seen of it i'm sure it will.

Halo 5 is the only one I watch, but I am anxious for other ones like Assassins Creed and Batman.

Yes agreed, we do need a breath of fresh air regarding open world RPG's. I'm also looking forward to W3 and really hope it lives up to expectations as I think the genre could do with some active competition. It would be good for us consumers and maybe raise the bar for developers.

Can't say I'm really really looking forward to much of anything. Jagged Alliance Flashback is one I'm cautiously curious about though. Heard a lot of bad things about Back in Action, so I'm not convinced that they'll manage not to [censored] up the series again.

Other than that... I'd like to believe the Witcher 3 will be good, but to this day I haven't beaten W1 and thus haven't even started on W2. It just turns into a slog around the Swamp.

If I had to say one way or the other, the three that I come the closest to chomping at the bit for are Pillars of Eternity, Frontiers, and Wasteland 2. With a bit of hope for a final release, well optimized build of Kerbal Space Program.

Wasteland 2 is already available as a beta and the full game is supposed to be ready sometime in the late summer/early fall.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to those as well. Contributed (too much) to the Kickstarters for all of them. Looking forward to my autographed copies. :P

For once there isn't any game I'm really looking forward to and it seems like it gonna stay that way for some time.

Bit dull, I suppose, but on the other hand I can now focus on my large backlog instead

Well, there's one thing clear. If the Witcher 3 disappoints, Jack will be the only one who will commit suicide. ^^
