Motherboard fears.

I'm currently building my computer and last night, I put the motherboard in the case without the things that make it get elevated. I also slid it a bit on a wood table. Will it still work? I was wearing the anti-static strap, so I probably didn't short it out. Nothing's plugged in on it outside of the CPU fan. I did put RAM in there and the CPU. Attempted to have the thing assembled outside the case, but the video card is too big.

There is at least a funny story here. I tried to get the case out by using a knife on the foam blocks and cutting the parts keeping the case in off. Then my mom walks in on me basically brutalizing foam.

You're probably fine, ít's good to be careful, but motherboards aren't that fragile. Just use common sense and you will be fine

Thanks. I'm going to wait to get back to the building process for now. I probably lost a pound from walking to my room to check my laptop and then going right back to building in the kitchen. I figured it was fine, but didn't know.

Still, the video card, which is a 780 Superclocked ACX, is a scary monster to look at. I feel small just holding it. I am pretty short, too.

I have had to get my parents to help out a good bit. My dad had to pop the IO in for me because I was not strong enough to and my skin is fairly delicate. I also didn't have the strength to get the lever for the CPU spot to move easily, so he had to help. In other words, this build became a family build thanks to me being too weak as far as strength goes.

My mom actually was the one who figured out the case and she doesn't know much about computers. Looks like me saying, "I am better with software, not hardware." was right. Oh well. Can't wait to finish this thing and see if my mistakes didn't cause any harm.
