Doom Steam Workshop Support?

The original DOOM had a HUGE fanbase due to its ability to be modded. More people made stuff that other people could play to make the game how they liked, sorta like fallout and Skyrim, it was like the skyrim of its day I hear. Im hoping Bethesda recognizes there is a whole community with bajillions of fan sites who would like a return to that kind of game. I do notice games without the mod support usually die off after a couple months, Skyrim is still alive years later with a big community so Id like to see DOOM be very popular too. Thanks, good luck with the game!

P.S.- Please do what you did for Skyrim having a SUPER HUGE HD texture pack separate, because evereyone complained and it scared away wolfenstein buyers. I think if the game is averagish looking then there are like super textures for a 50-100gb download size that would make everyone happy. Cant plaease everyone all the time, so the one type of file size approach I dont think will work.

This is an awesome idea. The easy modability and amazing map editors are a big reason why people still care about Doom in the first place! It's the reason why things like Brutal Doom can still make headlines. The separate HD texture pack is an awesome idea, too.

PS: id Software, the original developer of Doom is developing the game. Bethesda is just publishing it. So I'm not sure how much input they have on things like that.

I think the modding community is what kept the original Doom alive, just like with the elder scrolls series.

Im not a techie, but cant they just copy paste over the tools from Skyrim to this new doom game?

Thanks for supporting the HD texture pack idea, Those textures exist probably up to 100gb but usually end up in the trash in the game development world which is sad. People who are fans would like the ability to install them so having them as an option I think would make the game very popular for gamers.

No.

Very different engines, very different tools.
