today I got ahold of Rage via Amazon. I ordered the german "Games for Windows" version, installed it via Steam and updated it to the latest version. As the title suggests I am suffering from the framerate issue which sadly seems to occour to a variety of gamers. I tried quite a few solutions from various boards (like forums.gamesas, steam, and others) but none of them seems to work. So this is why I decided to start a new topic; so I hope I could get the specific help me and my system needs.

The Problem: Well, it is the fairly common zero framerate problem. When I am starting the game, in the menu everything seems to be fine. Also during the intro scene (watched it like 15 times already - please enter skip function...) everything looks still allright. But right after that very first cutscene (I assume that is where the game begins) the framerate drops to ZERO, niente, nada, 0, null. To cut a long story short:

• I have 0 fps.

My system:

Win 7, 64 bit

ACPI x64-based PC
AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series | Running with AMD Catalyst 14.1
AMD Pheonm II X4 955

Note: I don't think it is a driver issue, since most topics that I found are suggesting to upgrad to AMD Catalyst 11.

The Question:

Is there any way to solve this problem? I don't need no 200 fps, but fps is clearly not enough to play an action game whatsoever!

Did you drop the graphics options to ultra low? I think you have to do that and slowly add back what is important to you. I could not get this game to run on my XP machine, have not tried on my W7 machine.

I think you can skip the initial scenes with the Escape key, but that might require you to actually get the game started at least once.

I lowered all lowerable graphic options to the lowest possible settings, nevertheless the game keeps on running with 0 fps.

As far as I can see, my system should not be the problem, as I almost hit the recommended requirements and am surely exceeding the minimums.
