What's the use of Vampire Lord?

I'm level 272 right now and play only on legendary difficulty. Vampire lord seemed a good addition by Dawnguard and certainly makes Mage characters WAY more powerful at low levels since the dark life spell costs little magic and does as much damage as dual casting fireballs. But what use is it for super high levels like me? I've found the best use of it is outside in the open at night but most intense battles are in dungeons aside from dragons but fire breath doesn't make vampire lord form a good choice for them either when all my magic resist enchantments have no effect.

Also though you get more health it's insignificant at such high levels when vampire lords get no armor. My human character is WAY more durable than vampire lord.

Really the only reason I will remain a vampire is from all the perks you get with necromage. All Enchantments are stronger, virtually all conjuration and cloak spells have longer duration, shouts are stronger, illusion spells are stronger to the point where Mayhem (awesome spell) affects almost everything, even my restoration spells heal 25% stronger (I've confirmed grand healing does 375 instead when you're a vampire).

But Vampire lord seems to make me weaker now. Don't get me wrong I know it's more suitable for other areas since you can move and avoid melee opponents easier, but frankly I think I'm still as strong or stronger in my human form even in the best scenerio I laid out to fight as a vampire lord.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Well, they were balanced(?) around the original cap of 81, way before Legendary skills were a thing. Low-levels, they are great for Apocrypha and Solstheim, though.

I agree it was good for Dawnguard addition BEFORE legendary edition was added. Yeah they are still useful at level 81. I'm just curious if any other super high levels (I've seen some say they are level 500) have found it still useful. After all, once you get to a certain level not much past 81 you reach maximum damage, enchantment, and armor output you will ever reach. The only main reason to keep leveling up is add more magic, health, and stamina.

basically my tip's always to heavily mod skyrim, SkyRe is a good start, re-balancing stuff and changed AI can make Master diff way better than Vanilla's Legendary diff, if you add up that and mod's that improve Dawnguard's vapirism u might actually find great experience from it, without it the game is actually too easy... That's why you are using Legendary diff I suppose...

Srsly, look up for mods, that's the best thing u can do, it'll become hard playing vanilla again after your first experience with mod's that make the game what it should be in the first place =P

PS: If u are using console, that's a bum... Nothing u can do about it, srry =/

Yes I play it on the 360. Yes I play it on legendary since the games a sinch now. But then I think all the time you put it getting to lvl272 should warrant you being equivalent to a god in the game. That said, I still wish they made all the bosses easier. Even Karstagg is a walk in the park since he's a giant and was easy to avoid and kill still. The ONLY hard boss I fought on legendary at lvl100 was the Ebony Warrior and the main reason he was a beast was his heavy armor reflect damage perk. I had to severely downgrade my weapon so I wouldn't die suddenly with full health after I did a power hit. Yeah he was a lot of fun.

What I wish though is that skyrim would make a few awesome bosses with great abilities but scale with your character endlessly so they are always hard and can RESPAWN so I don't kill the Ebony Warrior and Karstagg and then know there will a NEVER be a hard fight again.
