[Request] Levelling mods.

Post » Sat Jul 05, 2014 12:34 am

So, been a while since I checked out the levelling mod loop, so my knowledge of it is quite out of date. It may be a while until I can play Oblivion again (need to get a copy of Win7 first, and I've far more important things to save the money on), but anyway.

My experience of levelling mods is OblivionXP and nGCD. I was playing OblivionXP most recently and I like it, but I'm finding myself with a preference for something more like GCD/NGCD/etc. Last I'd heard, though, NGCD and/or its components had had some kind of compatibility issues with mods I was using (possibly OBSE-related). I'm not sure if that's still the case.

But I'm wondering what other options there are out there beyond OblivionXP and NGCD. Has anyone any suggestions as to what might make for a fun (and hopefully interesting) levelling mod?

Thanks.

No idea about compatibility problems. You'll have to be more specific.

There's a long in depth topic about Realistic Leveling right below this topic . if you like nGCD then you have probably used Progress, which has been superseded by Fundament and Bundlement - same author.

Other than that it's the same old cast of characters just some are updated. What exactly are you asking?

EDIT: Wait. Are you running XP still? On the internet? With no more security updates?! Unclean! Unclean!

No, no Windows at all right now. Windows was never (and will never) be my primary OS anyway. My default (and currently only) is Ubuntu Linux 14.04. Least I can still play Morrowind, hooray for OpenMW! Not tried using WINE with Steam and Oblivion/Skyrim yet.

As for the rest of it - just asking about suggestions for levelling mods anyone might have tried, or if either of the mods I've mentioned are still worthwhile.

I used Kobu's for a long time and I really liked how customize-able it was in game (player power accesses tons of settings you can tweak). Kobu's comes packaged with some other handy mods, like one to increase carry weight for example. I found kobu's very nicely polished and well implemented.

At the moment I'm using realistic leveling. I just started to use it. It seems much more stream lined and simple. Some settings can be altered in an ini file. I like how it dynamically calculates your starting attributes, it reminds me of Galsiah's for Morrowind. Overall, they both seem like good mods!
