Why would my character kill Sinding?

Post » Sat Jul 05, 2014 3:59 am

So, I got a character.

A Dragonborn bard, huntress and kind of an agile warrior. http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/a582/Ferrykeizer/Vaennaetla%20Oak-Song/2014-07-01_00005_zpscf799d9a.jpg

It's because I went for a Pagan inspiration with this character.

She worships the Nordic Pantheon, (That includes Dibella, as seen in the picture.) and the Animal totems, and refuses to get involved with the Imperial pantheon (excluding Akatosh), unless there's a Nordic variant present in her pantheon. Aside from that she's also very spiritual regarding nature. You could call her a nature worshipper, as she meditates in name of the wilds and believes that nature is sacred.

But here's the issue. With her current gear, you could confuse her with a Forsworn. So I thought about the Savior's hide, that's a good alternative and works well with the rest of the forsworn gear, but without looking too much like them.

However, she doesn't need Hircine's ring at all. And in order to get Savior's hide, I have to kill Sinding.

For that reason, I'm trying to find a good RP reason for my character to kill Sinding. Especially regarding her ''Pagan'' morales.

I've had some ideas but I'm not really sure about them.

I think it works no matter what you choose.

A good character will be merciful.

A gray character will kill Sinding for what he did.

An evil character will kill him for the reward alone.

As a worshipper of Hircine, you could say he's a danger and should be killed. Alternatively, you could see killing him as an act of mercy for he'll go to Hircine's realm and hunt forever there to no harm of any innocents.

Why "grey"? My characters generally kill him in his cell, after he told them his story, because it's the only way. Letting him rot in his cell leaves the possibility that he transforms and escapes (roleplaywise, not questwise, of course).

Well, wouldn't say she worships Hircine. (Or maybe she does, if it could fit and not immediatly insult her rights to Sovngarde. I'll think about it.)

That said, given his views about the hunt, she'd probably find him more worthy than most other Daedra.

But yeah, mercy seems pretty reasonable.

For her pagan morals; is she okay with ripping a kid apart and possibly eating parts of the body? He might feel bad about doing it, but he did it. Iirc he says he's lost control before and he'll run far away so it doesn't happen again, which means he knows it can happen again. If you decide to save him, you'll have to kill other hunters.

Yeah, I guess helping a werewolf kill fellow hunters would be like a lion attacking his own pack and leaving the prey alone. Good point.

Either way, I'm in Markarth currently, so I got some time to think about it.

Killing Sinding would probably make more sense than I realized.

Sinding is a man who is losing control of his humanity. His last victim was a young girl. Would you witness someone kill another and then let them go because they promised not to do it again? Very much like the case with Sinding. He is a man you do not know, you have no reason to trust him. Who's to say how long it would take for him to slip back into his old ways? Who's life do you care to risk in order to see if that happens? He deserves death.

He killed a child, that's enough reason to put him down.

I wonder what is this special form of lycanthropy which the Companions have and doesn't override your human nature.

As far as we know, none of them has trouble keeping it in check.

because they are far more disciplined. They are strong in their humanity. Where as Sinding is a weak minded fool who couldn't control the nature of the beast.
