Official: Beyond Skyrim TESVI #39

Post » Sat Jul 05, 2014 1:48 am

This thread is for ideas and suggestions for future Elder Scrolls games, and to keep all the discussion in one series of threads.

We also have an official thread specifically for http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1501185-tes-vi-location-and-setting-speculation-6/ suggestions for future games.
Now that Skyrim has been released the number of suggestions and ideas for the next ES game are starting to show up. We have a long way to go before we get another ES game and all topics like this will be closed and either transferred or referred to this one.

Please keep any discussion of Skyrim in the correct forums.

Let's talk about stealth, shall we? I hope everyone agrees that stealth in the previous TES games has been far from the best, in fact I'd go as far as to say it's exploitable and outright terrible.

What other games could we look at for examples of stealth done right? What changes would be nice to see?

In Dishonored, you aren't actually give -any- shadow bonus if you're too close to a target. This small fact changes the way stealth works drastically. If that'd be implemented in TES 6, you could no longer sneak a feet away from someone's face.

What other small changes would immediately add more to the stealth system?

At least the whole being hit thing, for sure. If a bandit, or one of his friends, is hit by an arrow (or silent spell, which'd be nice), they'd immediately go for cover and alert others. While alerted, enemies would also gain a massive bonus to vision, representing that they're actively searching for the cause of the attack.

Finally, damage bonus to spells, and silent spells. I've wanted for a long time toast an enemy with a massive fireblast from my hands, but so far all it does is alert them and deal minor damage. A successful sneak with a spell wouldn't even have to be silent, as long as the bonus damage is applied. What a nice way to initiate combat, toasting an enemy with a burning touch!

all i want is more monster types to kill lore friendly of course the next gen cons and pc should be able to handle at least a little increase in life forms. as for stealth i agree it needs tweaking though i am going to miss being a ba archer with sneak.
