X men Magneto question.

Post » Sun Jul 13, 2014 7:51 pm

I remember Charles Xavier in the first x men film first describing magneto and saying not can he only control metal but also create(create or influence or something)mangetic fields as well.

In the cartoon x men animated series from the 90's with batman animated series on in the same week of that time, I heard recent rumors that of course he can control metal but "electromagnetic fields as well in that x men cartoon.

So my question is controlling magnetic fields stronger from the films or is controlling electromagnetic fields from the animated series stronger as a power to add to controlling metal.

Thanks for any answers if there are anyone who would care to answer. It's just that I'm a big fan of magneto and would like to see the film be in a way equal to the cartoon magneto. I like both though.

Well, I've always thought of it as he was manipulating magnetic fields rather than directly moving the metal with his mind, though that's a personal theory.

Same thing for Quicksilver, especially after seeing him in that last movie, I believe that rather than moving super fast he's experiencing time differently than everyone else, at a very, very slow rate. The manipulation of metaphysical concepts is far more palatable to me that simply running über fast or having mental control over all metal.

Electromagnetic fields are a form of magnetism... Magneto has always been able to control both.
Magneto cannot "control metal." Instead he controls the magnetic fields around them.

Cartoon Magneto used electromagnetism more often, but it's been long established in the comics that he can control all forms of magnetism.
The movies just chose to not show it, or use it, as much.

He's a master of magnetism so he's able to manipulate most metals....the movies added in the power over metals nonsense so he can do the coin thing :P

Movies are not true to comics, the cartoons are much closer to the truth.

Also Magneto is the most badass guy marvel ever came out with. Thought I just had to mention that.

Ironically he would easily be taken down by the "Man of Steel".
