okay, was trying to tell a friend about a game i played many years back to justify my argument, but couldn't for the life of me remember much about it.. let alone its name..

would have been from the early 2000s.. it was sorta a horror FPS hybrid.. one of the first weapons you were able to get was some kinda glowing rock.. and I think at one point you may have walked into a closet in the manor and were sent to a parallel dimension of sorts that consisted of floating rock platforms you have to follow..



not really important, but now I am trying to remember what on earth that game was called.. if it rings a bell to anyone, i would appreciate having the message passed along..

"Horror FPS hybrid" and "manor" makes me think of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Realms_of_the_Haunting, but that came out in 1997 and to my knowledge doesn't match the rest of your description. That's probably not it, but it doesn't ring any other bells for me.
