which type of gamer are you?

hey,

I have noticed over the years, there are two major types of gamers out there:

1) Gamers who are completely dedicated to only one game at a time, and won't even look at another until they beat the one they are on - (we will call these "1 on 1 Gamers")

2) Gamers who have playthroughs of multiple games going on at the same time. be it one on their PC and one on their handheld, or two seperate games on their console.. these gamers are known for sitting down and looking at their library and saying "what do I feel like playing today.." - (we will call these "branching Gamers")

so, which are you?

Branching gamer!

I get bored pretty easily and sticking to one form of entertainment would kill me. I play games based on my mood. If I want some mindless action? In goes COD! Want some story? RPGs or Visual novels!

It's all about my moods, bro.

Branching gamer. I always have several ongoing playthroughs, and I can rarely focus on one thing for too long, so of course. Unless I'm playing a 60 hour long JRPG or something. For some reason it's always those games that turn me into a 1 on 1 gamer.

A mix of 1 on 1 and branching.

I will not play two different RPGs/story centric games at the same time. I will only play one of them at any given time till I am done with the game/playthrough. I might hop on some other game in the midst of the RPG playthrough, but it will be something like Call of Duty or Civilization, maybe some Dark Souls, but only for PVP. I tend to stick with one game at a time. I will play little or nothing else besides that until it is done. There are many exceptions to this. If it is a story centric game, I probably won't play anything else besides it until I beat it. Unless one of my friends sends me a hundred game invites. Those bastards can be downright persistent.

In general I stick to branching. I tend to replay certain games at a whim and cycle through ~3 games at a time.

When I have a totally new game I tend to focus on that for a while but eventually settle back to a routine with other games.

I'm a branching 1 on 1 gamer. I play two games at a time, one on my PC, and one on my handhelds, or one on one of my consoles, and one on my handheld. I always have two going on, but never anymore then that, and I won't fire up a new game until I've completed the one I was working on. I used to play multiple games at a time when I was younger, but I'm too old to remember what the hell I was doing when I spread myself that thin.

Edit: Figure I should explain why I made a combo of the two choices. While it's true I play 2 games at once, I never play them at the same time. The PC or Console game is strictly daytime/before I head to the bedroom for sleep playing, and handheld is always/only played for an hour as I lay in bed before I fall asleep. I never mix the two. They each have their respective time-slots.

Sort of a mix, but I try my best to be a 1 on 1. It keeps me organized so I'm not all over the place playing games and end up never coming back to them (Sleeping Dogs, Mirror's Edge, Dust: An Elysian Tail, State of Decay, etc.). But sometimes I can't help myself and just play what I feel like playing. Usually I have no problems being a 1 on 1 with a game that is compelling enough that I play constantly regardless (at the moment, that game is Dark Souls).

However, I am the same as Albino. I only play one RPG/story centric game at a time.

It varies. Usually after something like a Steam sale I'll branch out and play a bit of all the things I've bought, sticking with the ones I enjoyed most to completion or whatnot. The rest of the time though I tend to be entirely 1-on-1. When Dragon Age Origins came out it was the only thing I played for a couple of months for example. Most recently, when ESO was released it was probably the only thing I played until the most recent Steam sale set me off on a branching track.

Branching, I do somethings only focus on one game, but really I hop and play the games depending on what I want to play.

I'm a branching gamer. I really hate beating a game too fast so I use other games to delay myself. I don't mind it as much with games that have replay ability after the story, but games that don't offer that I take as long as I can. Sometimes this plan backfires and stops me from ever going back to a game though (looking at you Red Dead). If the game stinks but I still want to finish it, I rush through it. Though usually I have tons of games in progress at once. Currently I have a Skyrim playthrough, a Borderlands 2 playthrough (going for OP 8!), and CoD Black Ops 2 or MW3 for multiplayer. Currently the game I'm beating that I haven't played before is Far Cry 3.

Both, kinda, although I guess I'm leaning more towards 1 on 1. I only play one story heavy game at a time, but I may mix it with smaller games.

For example, lately I've been playing Divinity: Original Sin on PC but I've also been playing the games in the Capcom Arcade Cabinet for the PS3.
