80 grand for a plane, good deal?

I would hardly consider this a plane. It looks like a dune-buggy with a fan to propel it while it glides via a chute.

I'm going to die if I use that.

Regardless if you call it a plane or not, it can fly.

A hot air balloon also flies, can be had for cheaper, and makes for a good romantic date.

I mean if you want to fly, you can do it http://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?s-type=aircraft&special=light_sport&s-page_size=25&s-seq=3&s-lvl=3&s-sort_key=price&s-sort_order=asc&s-page=1 (with faster speeds), so if you're going to get something goofy and slow, you might as well go with something quiet and can be mistaken as romantic.

Look at the bright side if anything happens to the engine at least you have a parachute for a safe landing.

And if anything happens to the parachute, that engine sure won't be as helpful. :P

Hm, looks safe.

Something happening to the engine is about the only catastrophic eventuality in which you'll be able to use the parachute. Anything else and you'll pretty much be [censored] out of luck.

And just wait until we hear the stories about the people who died because they removed the parachute in order to make the craft more lightweight to give it increased flying time.

Considering you can buy an Ultralight Plane for $5000 or less, and that at least follows the general conventions for powered flight (a wing for instance), I would much rather be in one of those.

Great deal for someone with money to burn. Sadly, Mugi is a tad bit on the "I'd rather save 80 grand" side. :P

This would be a much better option.

Who needs stinking Parachutes.

Also a dune buggy. Man no one learns from the Doc. You need to use a DeLorean.

Like CCNA stated it is just better to get an Ultralight

You can get an old Cessna 172 for half that price and you can get a really old Cessna 172 for several thousand dollars.

That's a dune buggy with a parachute. I don't think its going to take me places a plane could.

Either way, as the description suggests, it looks suiting for an "adrenalin junky".

The Gyrocopter that ny neighbor built looked safer than that Dune Buggy.

Doing a quick internet search I found many ultralight aircraft for sale for under $10,000 and if I am not mistaken in many places you don't need a pilot's license to fly ultralight aircraft. At the very least it isn't the same requirements for normal aircraft. Which would be a plane most people could easily afford.
