Where did skyrim fall short?

Post » Sun Jul 20, 2014 8:47 pm

I was sitting here bored not wanting to play my xbox one and i was thinking a few games did not accomplish what they wanted with the last gen system like GTA V had lots of bugs and not as smooth as they wanted, the last of us said they didn't fully accomplish what they wanted do you think that if bethesda would of had the xbox one to work with when it came out it would of had less bugs and if so is there anything that you think they would of had added to the scope of the game?

less bugs? with an Elder Scrolls game? haha, surely you jest!

anyways, not likely.. the 7th gen consoles had been around for quite awhile at Skyrims time of release, they knew how to work with it and how to trick it to do things better.. the 8th gen consoles being rather new, they haven't fully mastered that yet (notice how games coming out toward the end of a consoles life are usually much better than its launch titles? yeah, thats why, as time goes they figure out more efficient ways to milk every last drop from the hardware)

and newer more powerful consoles don't automatically mean a bigger game.. with more processing power comes Graphics advancement, Audio quality, some rather beefy cinematics, new animations, and some very script-heavy features. all of which take up more space on the disc than it would have for its predecessor.. (if more powerful consoles automatically meant bigger games, we would have 4 entire provinces in a single game at this point compared to Morrowind)

I must be the only person on the planet that has never had (severe) bug issues with Bethesda games, lol

But great post. I don't really know where Skyrim fell short, at the moment. I'm sure there's some things that I liked better in past games... not enough to really have any sort of complaint about Skyrim. But I'm sure if I really wanted to, I could think of some things.

My two main issues with the game are the game UI and the linear quests. It would be awesome to see many more quests in the next TES game with multiple solutions.

I said this in another thread. Give me Attributes, Spellmaking, Fame and Infamy, the Unarmored, Shortblade and Spear skills, a regular chance of failure in both skill usage and quests and replace each and every instance of Essential status with Protected status and I'll never touch another video game for the rest of eternity.

The UI is terrible, can't even see the roads on the map! Who's idea was it for a useless 3d map? The favorites...is terrible, especially if you are playing a pure mage, pausing the game constantly in the middle of battle... I could go on and on.

The quest are linear and rather "meh"

I won't go into details, I already explained myself several times, in a nutshell: "Mile wide, foot deep."
