Kill Without Qualm

A roleplay written and GM'd by Rubeus Hagrid

Introduction

The year is 4E 0, just over a year after the beginning of the Oblivion Crisis, and the beginning months of the Fourth Era. While the rest of Elsweyr buries their dead and rebuilds their towns, the kingdom of Rimmen carries on as though nothing had happened, with the enigmatic Regulators dealing only occasionally with Daedra stragglers. With the recent addition of a grand arena funded by the Khajiit nobles of the city, slavery is now one of its largest exports, with many slavers and smugglers trafficking their goods in and out of the city. The slaves are usually made to fight in the arena, and those who aren't are sold off to the noble families of Elsweyr. It was Rimmen's love for the slave trade that propelled it's current state as an independent kingdom.

In addition to the abundance of slaves fighting in the arena, many combatants seek a career in combat for a more noble cause. Whether it be fame, coin, or both. Those who survive long enough are given titles befitting of a true warrior; coin, and friends in high places; friendships that will benefit the fighter greatly. For many growing up in Rimmen's slums, the arena is their only hope. Thus, although originally conceived as punishment for the Renrijra Krin, the arena quickly became a hub for corruption, often at the hands of the Regulators.

OOC Information

Welcome to the kingdom of Rimmen, home to the arena in which we speak of in the introduction. This is principally a PvP roleplay, with the added benefits of character relationships and more. What story your character will tell is entirely up to you, though the role in which your character plays must tie into the arena somehow. Thus we've made three separate roles for your character, and you may pick whichever one you fancy playing. When you fill in your CS, you'll put which one you want to play under the "role" inquiry. We also have a few unique roles which need filling. Such as the owner of the arena itself, and the blademaster.

Combatant - You're reasons for fighting in the arena are your own.

Slave - Are you an Ashlander, who's village was ransacked at a young age? Are you a Khajiit/Argonian who was captured by Dunmer nobles and sold into work labour? Are you a captured member of the Renrijra Krin? As a slave, you have been forced onto fighting in the arena, and you will probably be under the supervision of Ralyns Valthyris; the infamous Telvanni slaver in Rimmen (played by Rubeus Hagrid). This is up to you however, and if you do play a slave, please specify as to who your owner is (This can be an NPC if you like).

Regulator - You are one the mysterious guards in Rimmen who oversees the arena, and makes sure that everything is in order. At least that's what you're supposed to do, more than likely you are just as corrupt as any slaver/trafficker. The choice is yours.

Character Sheet

If you wish to join the roleplay, you'll first have to fill in this simple CS. For everyone's benefit, you'll need an approval from one of the GM's before you can start posting in the IC thread.

Background - Ralyns Valthyris was born into a noble family in Sadrith Mora, and spent most of his life in and around there. His parents were very rich, and were both members of the House Telvanni. Ralyns grew up absorbed in the culture of the Great House, and was around both magic and slavery at a young age, and came to eventually master both. Stubborn from a young boy, Ralyns refused to the tutorage of his parents as a young advlt and instead sought to teach himself. When he reached the rank of lawman in House Telvanni, he was given permission to plant his own mushroom tree. At Ralyns's insistence it was to be planted just outside of the city. He spent the next few years thoroughly impatient, for he wanted his own independence and wished to be alone to pursue his endeavours. His parents owned a couple of slaves from Elsweyr which was very natural to Ralyns, seems as he grew up in Sadrith Mora, he knew no different. It was his wish to have slaves of his own one day, and have them work for him in hard labour.

Six years had past, and Ralyns's mushroom tower had grown to a point where it was now habitable. His parents were overjoyed for him, and gifted him with a Khajiit slave as a parting gift at the young age of 43. Ralyns was very fussy at that age, and wanted to eat his own livestock, and harvest his own crops. So with the assistance of his new slave, he attended an auction a bought himself five new slaves, all of which were either Khajiit or Argonian. They had no choice but to work in his farm, and did so for many long years right up until they died. Which was never because of old age, but instead at the hands of Ralyns; he would often execute workers if they had outlived their usefulness to him. He spent many decades buying and selling, and working the slave trade to his advantage; often selling off poor workers for a profit.

Ralyns always worked with Khajiit and Argonian slaves, until one exceptionally good offer came his way in the form of Ishkibal Kaushad, a brutish Ashlander who had been captured by slavers. She was apparently much too rough for them, so they seemed to sell her for a good price. They approached Ralyns personally with the offer and he accepted. He saw something different in her, she wasn't like the rest. She had a knack for keeping the other slaves in check, and was eventually promoted to the position of "head slave", and unofficial title that meant she was given special privileges in exchange for keeping the slaves hard at work. Ishkibal was surprising loyal to Ralyns over the years, to the point where he could leave his home content knowing that his homestead was in good hands.

During the Oblivion Crisis, Sadrith Mora suffered from a colossal attack from Daedra. It was no secret amongst the slaves that Ralyns was a worshiper of Mehrunes Dagon, but they wouldn't have dared say it to his face. In fact, the only person he openly mentioned it to was Ishkibal. Ralyns would not fight his native Telvanni House, so he fled to Cyrodiil; far away to the swamps of County Leyawiin with his slaves. It was here that during the Oblivion Crisis that Ralyns would leave his new isolated home in the hands of Ishkibal, while he conspired with the Mythic Dawn to bring about Mehrunes Dagons entry into Tamriel. It was just as well that Sadrith Mora was attacked, for he was now within close proximity to the rest of the Mythic Dawn. His family were powerful Telvanni mages, he assured himself that they were fine.

After Mehrunes Dagon's defeat, Ralyns was forced to flee once more. He heard about the construction of an arena in the nearby kingdom of Rimmen that would house the Renrijra Krin, a group of Khajiit bandits that he had been having some trouble with in his new homestead. He found it rather ironic that the very group of people who were trying to liberate his slaves were now slaves themselves. This would be Ralyns's new home, he could make a very good living through forcing his slaves to fight in the arena. Indeed, for it seemed that this city was now it's own separate kingdom, and even slavery was overseen by the thoroughly corrupt "Regulators".

Rules

- No OP characters/equipment. Try and stay away from things such as Daedric Artifacts and other relics.
- No metagaming. Please try and ensure that if you know something, but your character does, to not metagame. For example: Read about a secret location of which your character is unaware in a previous post and go there.
- No character controlling. This is an important one, please don't control other peoples characters. You may however control NPC's, as long as their personality/responses are realistic for the RP.
- No short posts. Even if the post only demands a single response from your character, please don't respond with just the dialogue. We don't want any ridiculously short posts in this RP. Fairly short posts are fine if they're necessary.

Combat Rules

This is a PvP Roleplay and you will occasionally be placed in fights against other players, one character WILL die. If you're fighting against another player, it's advices that you PM him/her and discuss the upcoming fight. There's three ways in which a fight will be resolved.

1) An agreement by the players in combat. An agreed winner by all of the participants will be accepted.

2) Naturally. You and your opponent act out the fight until a clear winner is conceived. (recommended)

2) GM's choice beforehand. If you can't make up your mind, then a GM will be forced to pick a winner.

The Regulators could very well end up in combat too, and your character may die if the rest of the members deem it fitting enough. You CAN make alts if your first character dies!

I've had this sitting around doing nothing for a while, and wanted to see if this would interest anyone. A friend on the forum helped with some of the lore, and had a character planned. He was going to a GM, but hasn't come online now for quite some time.

Anyone feedback is of course welcomed. Hopefully this will spark at least some interest. :)

You WILL need experienced RPers for this, and they have to be willing to give ground for the sake of the RP. By giving ground, I mean sacrificing their character. Many RPers, myself included, having gotten very good at finding ways to dodge death with our characters, will not initially find it easy to allow our fellow rper's to catch us off guard.

GM's may have to decide the fights on a few occasions.

I happen to have a long list of combat ready characters I have used in only one or two Rps and never got far. I like them, but they are practically throwaway characters -good for if they die- and I just need to edit them for the time period. I'll get to work on it soon.
