Need advices in choosing a bday present :p

I'd like to see strangers' opinions. Here's the deal. My birthday is tomorrow and I saved some money. Family decided to pitch in and I have just enough for two things I really want for a long time now. One is ps4. I'm an avid gamer, I love playing and collecting games. However, I can also get a very decent camera for that money, and it's been a while (few years actually) since I wanna go back into photography. I can't decide for the life of me and people I ask just tell me to get what they think I want instead of being neutral so this is where yous come in. Ps4 or camera? :P

Also sorry for, probably many typos, phone internet and typing on a touchpad are two grand horrors for me. :P

I cant imagine youd get a good camera for the same amount as a PS4... But if you're serious about photography and would rather take photos then play video games, i would go for it anyways.

Happy Birthday.

I'd say camera. It's a wonderful hobby that can give so much satisfaction, and goes hand in hand with hiking and visiting new places. It's healthier than gaming too

Seems like you'd get much more use out of the PS4 seeing as how it has so many titles already out and only countless more on the way.

How often do you see yourself using the camera? I don't know much about cameras but aren't the really good ones much more expensive?

I'm rusty and don't plan to make a living out of it, so camera at that price range is currently more than I actually need. :)

I am curious what camera model do you have in mind. While I reckon at its price point, the PS4 is maybe more bang for the uck than an entry level camera from a strictly technical standpoint, I am one of those who believe the art of photography is 95% composition (the photographer) and you can achieve great results even with lowly small sensor compacts. OTOH I am also one who believes that a brand new, fully featured camera can inspire you to go out more and find subjects to shoot, it happened to me more than once already. I change my system every 4 or 5 years and the whole process of reading gear forums, reviews, watching tests on youtube, going to the store to test myself how a camera feels in my hands makes me so excited about photography again. Some call this GAS, but I can swear I shoot 200-300% more pictures the first year after buying a new camera.
