So there is a locked door in Dragonsreach and i dont seem to be able to find the key, i have searched the Jarl and his assistant, do any on here know if i get the key in some quest or is it just supposed to be locked of forever? (im playing on PS3 so i cant use the console).

I believe you're talking about a certain door that's part of a quest mate. Talk to the Inn Keeper in Whiterun and ask her if she has any rumours. I think you have to be level 30 for this particular quest so wait til then

Took me ages to work it out as well.

Protip: If anything has "requires key to unlock" it is ALWAYS connected to a quest and will unlock by itself at a certain point in the quest or you'll be given the key.
