Can I create an overflow loot bag with the construction set?

Post » Fri Jul 25, 2014 1:39 am

Hello,

I recently got Morrowind for pc on steam, I used to play it on xbox. I've been trying to create an overflow loot bag in my house to store my items in but having no luck. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong really, I'm sure I have way more than 1k items dropped. (Unless gold pieces do not count.)

Anyway, then I thought I might be able to create one with the construction set or a console command.

Does anyone know the ID for an overflow loot bag? I've been checking the internet but no luck, a lot of posts about people hating the thing for some reason, I always thought it was rather handy myself.

So if anyone could help me out with this I would appreciate it.

I don't know how to create it in the CS, but the number of items you have to drop to create one for PC is different than Xbox. Its 256 for Xbox and 1024 for PC, I think.

Edit: Oh wait, you say you have dropped more than 1k items? That's odd that a loot bag has not appeared.

Yeah I thought it was weird too. Most is just gold pieces I dropped individually into piles of 100 so if they don't count towards the total it could be that. But that doesn't sound right to me, why wouldn't they count?

I also can't imagine it being a version thing or a steam thing but I could be wrong in that.

So now I'm just hoping someone knows the console code.

It's really kind of hard to put a 1023 separate pieces in a cell. My Hlaalu Manor House was practically a garbage pit on the Xbox with the 255 items needed to make the overflow loot bag. Also, this bag may not show up in a modded cell, as I know in the House Under the Hill Mod I have had more than 1000 things on display at once.

See this, as this guy clearly has more than 1000 things on display, and it is a stock house. But, he also has some threads about an OFLB from way back when, so perhaps there is an OFLB in there.

Anyway, for the bag to even show up, you have to drop 1024 individual items in the cell, not stacks. Then leave and come back. I don't know if you have to rest or not. The bag will replace the last item, or rather the 1024th item you dropped.

I dropped items individually in piles of 100. Lots of kreshweed and saltrice since they are small but also lots of coins. The house is Tel Uvirith.

I'll check the link, thanks. :)

Have you searched in the CS for Loot or Overflow? I think it is one of the special containers and not in the regular list. You also might poke around in the scripts for a cell and see if there is some counter in there.

I do remember seeing a mod related to the OFLB back in the day, but who knows if that mod ever made it to the Nexus or the other mods sites that took over for PES.

I just did that and LootBag does exist, but only in CS and not in-game.

ID: LootBag

Name: Overflow Loot Bag

Item List: -NONE-

Just for reference is that all mods on PES that's allowing distribution can be downloaded on MMH. Just http://mw.modhistory.com/search for it and you'll find the mod. Also check this for http://mw.modhistory.com/permissions.

I tried placeatpc lootbag,1,1,1 and it did create one.

However, stuff won't go in it, if I drop something, leave the cell and teleport back the bag is still empty.

So that's that I suppose. I guess it's not possible. Thanks for the help everyone. :)

I did you double click on it in the render window?

If not then double click on it which should bring up a container window. Then look for some clutter or whatever and select that item then hold down the left mouse button and drag it over to the open container window for the LootBag then just drop it there.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by render window. I'm very new to this stuff.

I can't put anything in it from my inventory, it says that the item won't fit.

The Render Window is in CS to the top right usually above the Cell View. You can't miss that.

You mean in-game.

Just a thought here, but instead of creating an overflow loot bag, wouldn't it be easier just to create a custom container for your house in the CS and remove the weight limit so you could put as much stuff in it as you want? That should be pretty darn easy to do, and then you could just use it like a regular container without all the weirdness caused by the overflow loot bag.

I think were talking about two different things here. I've been using the console thingy. I have no idea yet how to use anything else, I only started playing with it today.

The placeatpc command works but the lootbag is inactive. I can add stuff to it with the additem command but that's no real use and it doesn't activate it.

No idea how to do that yet. :)

I'll try another day, it's late and I best go to bed now.

Thanks again for all the help. :)

You shouldn't add the LootBag through the console instead you need to add something in CS into the LootBag.

I don't know if the steam version I got even comes with the CS. I could download it I suppose if it does not, but that will have to be for another day.

The Morrowind Construction set is pretty user friendly compared to later games. Maybe someone here can give you more specific instructions, since I have used the Oblivion CS but not the Morrowind CS, but from what I understand, you need to go into the CS, find a container you like, copy it and make sure to give it a new ID number (or you will change every container of that type in the game), then look for the box that governs weight and uncheck it, then drag it into the render window and position it in your room (of course you first need to navigate the render window to the room of your house).

Then save your esp file, give it a unique name, clean it with TES3cmd, and put it into your load order.

Bookmarked, thanks. :)

I'll look at it tomorrow. Really bedtime now and I haven't even brushed my teeth yet. This is going out of my book-reading time. ;)
