Drunken Dragon Inn VI

Post » Thu May 13, 2010 2:02 pm

After talking with other Roleplayers on the forums, I see what I am doing... Basically, I am a necromancer trying to ressurect an abomination... By trying to fix this thing, I have accomplished nothing... There is no way to fix the Drunken Dragon Inn, it is and always will be, the laughing stock of the forums :biglaugh: Else God-Hater in Skingrad would laugh at this...

Yeah it is awful as it currently is but changes can be made. But in honesty Zalphon you're better off joining a real RP and then use that. You'll improve a lot. But it isn't really my call to be truthful.

Hmm, what kind of plot could a rp set in an inn have? I was going to say think about what you see in your local bars, but then it occurred to me you might be too young to go in them. Basically, you get a bunch of people drinking, relaxing and talking complete and utter balls. Legendary tall tales - that either never happened, or if they did it was done by someone else, with the teller merely taking the credit. That gives characters all sorts of free reign for exploration, and if you think back to in game books in Morrowind especially, how many of them had some legendary figures meeting in bars? One is springing to mind immediately, "Silence" the Illusion skill book.

The setting of a bar has loads of potential, and you have all the oppurtunity in the world to play around with it, and see what you can come up with. From laid back converations, to drinking games, to tall tale contests, to the latest curious fellow who strolls threough the door in search of liquid refreshment...loads you could work with. I also feel that if the two line posts stopped, and people had the courtesy to run their post through a spelling and grammar check before they posted, you might get the rest of the forum off your back, and some of them might even join themselves. There is always a place for a more laid back rp, it doesn't always have to be saving the world, or hunting the necromancers, or surviving hordes of undead. But you do have to take pride in your posts, not just press add reply to any old rubbish.

Stick with it, and improve it, just be more careful and more creative. You'll feel better about what you've written, the rp itself will be more successful and the world will be a happier, shinier place! (Possibly.) :)

Gold-Heart walked out of the inn and Zalphon and Quick-Strike entered... Zalphon lied, "Sorry guys, was out fighting a few ogres, a werewolf, and a bezerk orc..."

Quick-Strike did a face-palm and walked upstairs...

Zalphon thought, "A lie yes, a chance to charm the ladies, yes..."

Quick-Strike thought, "He is so much like an adolescent, daring, excited...annoying..."

It keeps going because once a week somebody summons a horde of undead.

And then doesn't even bother to come back to continue the plot
Seriously, though, as I said, I don't have the time to make big in depth posts (well, actually, I haven't done many of the one/two liner posts you talk about, but I still don't make them as in depth as I would prefer) that I see in the other RPs. I know there's no point dedicating myself to join a RP when I could very well be gone for a day or two. And even if I possibly could, it's still rather daunting to just sign myself for that I have to stay for all the time. As for bad spelling and grammar etc, well, I have never been guilty of that, thankfully. And looking back at the first threads, there were actually quite a lot of people who posted in this.
Edit: Just because my posts aren't as long and in-depth as some in other RPs, doesn't mean I am lazy and don't know how to write properly.

I'd imagine if you could write properly then you would make long posts then. But each to his own I guess.

Not necessarily. As I said, my posts aren't that short, they're just not as long as I could make them. They are not one liners. And besides, it's no indicator of how well I write. I've noticed I write differently in this RP. I have to write from a third-person perspective, because otherwise it gets confusing for all the other RPers.

Oh I wasn't indicating that you should be making long posts, I'm just saying I'm suprised you don't, but like I also said, "each to his own." I guess it's because I'm used to writing such lengthy posts myself. Then again if I ever joined this for whatever reason I doubt my post would be as long.

Oh, ok. Now that I look back, my first post in this thread was rather long. And then everyone proceeded to ignore me. So that may have had something to do with it.

This thread is going completely off-topic.

The Drunken Dragon is, let's face it, old. Even I'm getting a little bored of it now. And when people start to get bored, people arn't going to do it.

If you can keep the inn running, then by all means do, because one thing that is ruinous in roleplaying is when the game gets canceled when people still want to play. But I think it's most likely we'll have to wait for a few months before the mainstream begins actively roleplaying this again.

I suggest you only carry this on if you're going to RP properly, and add a plot etc. If you're going to keep up the silly stuff then leave it.

That's my opinion anyway.
