Was this game beta tested on the PS3?

Sincere question. I simply cannot understand how a game can be released in this state.

Utter slideshow in some areas, just ruins your immersion and enjoyment. Rebooted the PS3 countless times, deleted the save data...

I'm aware this happens with all Bethesda games. But what I don't understand is why it hasn't changed.

I was having so much fun with New Vegas, and now I just feel disappointed and like I've wasted my time. This is such a brilliant game, plagued by technical issues. I can't hand in quests in certain areas, and trying to move/interact in that position is incredibly frustrating. Even trying to bring up the Pipboy to fast travel out is nigh on impossible. The game just stops reacting to your button pressing.

Have Bethesda offered any advice or anything? Surely they can release a patch to do something?

I've run over 700+ hrs on PS3 and really haven't found anything other than frame rate issues.

How big is your save file and which model PS3 do you use, if you don't mind me asking? Google seems to indicate lots and lots of people having the same issues, so if you're able to play a save file with 29 days on it (my understanding is the issues occur when the save file gets larger, due to doing stuff in-game) then perhaps there is a pattern or something.
