Are there skills you can't live without?

Post » Sat Jul 26, 2014 1:45 am

I've made a lot of characters. Some of them don't last very long, but a few that I've liked the most have made it almost to level 50. And I just now realized those are characters that use alteration and alchemy. So I guess those are my two favorite skills that I keep coming back to no matter what. I am currently playing an unarmored warrior who uses greatswords. His highest level skills right now are alchemy at 75 and alteration at 60. I've also made a conjurer and an illusionist who both used those two skills. Even my assassin needed alteration for detect life.

What are your favorite skills you keep coming back to and why?

Smithing and enchanting.

I find that they're essential once you reach level 45~50.

Enchanting for protection against mages/ Fire breath from Ancient Dragons and above.

Smithing for everything else.

Back when I would play, I always needed to have Smithing and One Handed.

I have a hard time playing without one handed, even for my mages, which is why I'll often have my mages become spellswords.

Otherwise, archery, oh how I love thee, and block.

It's not a good combo as whenever I play a pure archer I miss the feeling of a good sword and board fight, and whenever I play S&B, I miss the freedom of running around with my bow. Hybrids give me a bit of both, but also don't make me take advantage of the full potential of block and archery. It's quite frustrating.

Smithing AND enchanting. You've been spending some serious time at the workbenches with your nose to the grindstone.
